Luckily I found it randomly while browsing the net.

It will be such a relief to have your visa renewed right here in US
without fear of going back home and getting rejected.

 You call it band aid. I call it small step in the positive direction. With president Obama taking on comprehensive immigration reform next week and with latin groups being a significant portion of the electoral votes for the democrats, chances are legal immigration reform might be dragged behind by the illegal immigration debate. Latin advocacy groups like La Raza are advocating strongly for thier cause. I do not know if there are any advocacy groups for legal immigration except for a bunch of hi-tech companies appealing to their senators. So why not participate in any chance to make your voice heard. Lets be optimistic.

 those are all just talk the talk. it's politics. TBH for legal immigrants like us , republicans are better. But as for now,   illegals have advantage with democrats. For instance recent chance to pass stem job...honeslty it all boils down to BS....nth will happen...

 They say even a mother does not breast feed her baby without crying. Yes it is all about special interest groups and lobyying but in democracy a voice is a voice. It might help the public opinion at the least and if Republicans are for greencard through STEM then democrats might be compelled to work out a bargain as well.

 Non immigrant visa is not only limited to F1 visa

It also includes

F2 dependent visa
H1B visa
H1C visa for nurses in specialty shortage occupations
J1 and a bunch of other visas 
Fiance visa for united states citizens

 Could somebody explain to me that threshold of signatures? Is it  just a goal? I was browsing responses to previous petitions and white house has repsonded to some that are as small as 6000 signatures.
