The final draft will be ready by April 8th. They said u can have legal status after paying fines n gotta have no criminal records. After 8 or 11 yrs you can apply for GC. But can't apply for citizenship until the border is secured 100%. So by the end of April there would be something for wetbacks. Both democratic n republicans wana secure their vote for future elections from Latinos ( for me all latinos r wetbacks). My nepali wetback friends (those Nepalese who came here thru Mexico) r anxious n r ready to buy stores if they get approved. They have made millions working in stores for 10-12 yrs illegaly.

Looks like something is going to happen. Specifics will be known when the bill comes out.
Most of it will be directed towards Hispanics. Hopefully some of us can benefit from it as well. They may also come up with new visas for low skilled workers which can help people to get it legally as well.

why do Nepali f1s need reform? eb2 from dhoti consultancy gives you green card in around 1 yr , sometimes less than that. eb3 is around 4 yrs. i would be scared if they remove the country quota for chinese and indians then Nepalis will be waiting for years too. this reform is pushed by latinos and indians. with influx of applications your processing time will be slow and if indians and you're standing in the same line, then you are going to have a looong time before you can even dream about a gc.. you know eb3 for dhotis right now takes around 12 yrs and eb2 around 7-9 yrs...

US politics these days sounds like indian politics for vote bank. How could the USA on one hand stand for equality for all humans and on the other hand pander to a particular community and their concerns for vote bank.

I think F1 and H1 are Napunsak.

All illegals latino women, kids, hard working men, they go on street and demands Immigration Reform

without fear of deportation. They do every year. Now on April  10, they are doing again in Capital

Hill, Washinton DC.

And these F1 and H1 stay home, nothing to fear of deportation, watch TV and ask whats in it for YOU in
Immigration Reform. Laaz pani Chaina, Thuk Mora Haru.

Being F1 and H1, you want Green Card right to your door. There are plenty of ways to get Green card and Citizenship if you are F1 and H1. AND I DID IT MYSELF BEING A WOMAN.  IF YOU ARE MAN CAN'T DO IT ITS A SHAME.

Only getting a degree won't help YOU to be succesful in life. You need a COMMON SENSE.

Sexy in sari, you might have a point in some way but it is very unwise to speak against the entire people with a single word because either you don't know who we are or you simply don't have enough sense. You know why they are demanding or protesting because they have nothing to loose. And us, we have spent years studying and spent enough to get through. What do you call this, nothing?? We are not scared of anything, neither we are demanding, we are simply asking if we can be a part of the reform. And you find it wrong! Well I think you are not one among us! Neither you have faced situation like ours.

@sexy in sari..so did you get married to some old guy who had to consume 5 pills of MOJO and couple 5 hr energy + Viagra in order to get your green card ? i would definitely love to hear plenty of ways that you are talking about.. no one is effing crying for green card.. and know this, F1s work harder than any other as well and still manage to get good grades in college (which m sure u did not get).. i do not understand this deep shit but please do explain to me how is it effing fair that people who come here legally, study their ass off and who are able to give significant contribution to this country are left in the dark while people who can not even speak two words in English are the likely candidates of having legal status... and FYI i have not watched TV in six years... maybe stop using your COMMON SENSE from your wide holes...

Immigration Reform basically lets those gain legal status who don't have one.
F1 and H1s are very lucky to have that already. So make use of that. If you want to be included in the reform, give up your status and be illegal. It's simple. Based on other posts, Sexy in sari is a very intellectual individual. Whatever she said, I completely agree.

Ok let's go this way, do you think all f1 and h1 have easy path towards the citizenship? We all know that, if there were no consultancies, how many of you think that we could get jobs and h1 b sponsored easily? Remember not all have excellent grades and attended best universities to get prevailing jobs. It is very tough for most of us to sustain while on f1. Now the point is, why would you favor someone who has violated immigration laws, paid no taxes and are much more problematic than those who have maintained legal status, paid taxes and are skilled and educated. It is not just unfair but also injustice.

Wow wow looks like senate just came to sajha . And sexy is majorly leader :).

What ever you guys said, illegals will get some sort of status sooner or later. It's not about right or wrong , not about what American voter wants , but is it the voting power of Latinos.

But those f1 or other visitors, who are out of status right now and  expect to get GC, don't be overwhelm yet. Its nothing clear, don't think that they will give you GC so easy.

But this is going to hurt US in long run. New class of work visa for lower skilled will be heavily abused from by other immigrants , espicelly Indians and Mexicans . It won't stop flow of illegals . Increased H1b will make tech job crappy.

It will be good for those who are here illegally not for any one else . The only good thing for students will be , if they made GC easy for STEM, which is likely. Immigration for most neplease in not that difficult. At least the people around me got  settled fairly easy if they put little effort.

Now what else nepali student asking, like what they want in terms of immigration reform is not clear. They won't give full working previlage in F1. They already have 27 month work permit with little conditions after school for STEMs.

Student shouldn't be worried much with people already here or illegals, worry about flow of those dhotis in h1 & l1 and now in new category who will shortly start working in IT.

Some one told me all H1 is not Indians , yea not all but see percent.  And most of the time when these major reform occurs, i am very worried about what corporate interest group will get out of it. This time looks like their interest is cheap labor and permanant poor class, so that they wont have sortage of odd job applicant pool.

i think talking about the immigration and providing the legal status to the illegal ones is a very complex situation in US than we usually think. I looked up and the number of illegal immigrants in recent years in the US is around 12 million while the number of legal immigrants is more than twice of illegal immigrants. Many americans are having hard time to get job after the graduation. That might be the reason that legal immigrants who has US degree (or some other category are put through the transition before getting the permanent residency. Turning many of illegal immigrants to PR or citenzen might not have such a harsh effect on recent american graduate or any umemployed ones getting the new job. More than half of the illegal immigrants are from mexico, most of whom does not have degree to get white collar job....
this is truly my opinion....
P.S. the discussion in this type of thread should be constructive rather than being personal or destructive....

every immigrant brings other 3-5 immigrants in about 15-20 yrs due to family sponsorship and those 15 -20 will bring other 100. let's not forget that. now multiply that with 12 millions. Australia and Canada are specifically benefiting right now because they invite skilled immigrants. you have to be engineer or doctor for so many years before you get points for that and they are very good at scrutinizing real ones from the fake ones. i think this great country is based on research and innovation and of course lots of hard labor behind that too. we definitely need hard labor but also need people who can think and innovate.
