I will just explain my situation here: I graduated last year and am working on OPT which is about to expire so I’m going back to school from this Fall. I’ve got admission in UT- Dallas. I will be doing MS in Finance. I do not know anyone, I mean absolutely no one, going to UTD or living in Richardson area. And also now, I’m worried about financing the college, getting a place to live, finding roommates…basically, I’m starting from scratch here. So, I’d like to use this forum and see if I can get any help possible. If anyone is looking for a roommate and/or possible job opportunity/ advice, or any advice in general regarding getting on with UTD.. This might seem a lot to ask for… even some suggestions would be helpful..Thank you..!!

I hope you have some assistantship coz without that it's gonna be hard on you. Go to India bazaar in Plano, a bunch of Nepali chicks work there, you may find roommates from there. Thanks and gl

It's really hard to get assistantship in UTD. Not even sure about in MS in Finance. Engineering program is much better in UTD and Engineering/IT at UTD could land you finally a job. UTD has provision for a short term loan for international student so that you could arrange for it. But you can;t get to next sem without payying for the last sem. Getting on-campus job is also much harder. You might want to consider UTA as UTA might have more opportunity.

Balatkaari & Perrybhadra, I think i didn't get any assistantship..So, it is going to be very difficult. I did not apply for UT- arlington - they only have Quant. finance..i've looked into it and it's not my cup of tea. But, I've admission offer from UNT..cost wise it is cheaper..UTD because it's a better school - overall, better curriculum ( I think). UNT - cost wise and location too (I live 5 min. walking distance from UNT) is better..I guess I'll have to lean towards UNT now.. Thanks for your advice..!!! (and, I realized that I posted it in stories section not in kurakani ;p)

Shrek431, Well, UTD would be a better choice if you can make it. Their business program are well renowned in US. Where did you complete your undergrad? Do your math and see how much you will save UNT Vs. UTD. Look on eknazar.com for roommates.(just an idea. I have never used it. Never had to.) Choosing your college is a big deal. Thanks, Nepali.
