I have purchased a IPhone 6+ from craigslists 3/4 month back from one kale paying less amount than market rate.
He had said that he already have paid full amount. He just got new phone from his office so wanted to sell it. I went to the place
where he worked for and purchased.
Starting last month I started using this phone. When I called t mobile to unlock last month, they said to call me after a month.
Today, when I called them then they asked where I purchased it, I said I purchase from one seller. Then They said to contact seller
and let him know that this phone is still associated with another account and still has balance.
I just said I will try as I purchased 3/4 month back and not sure if I can contact him. They said ok.
Now, even If I try, I am unable to contact him. Does this affect me? What could be the consequences? Should I stop using this phone
or turned it in to T mobile or anything?

No need to return it to Tmobile. If it has a balance they will just blacklist the imei. That means you won't be able to use here in US. Send it to Nepal they can use it over there.

Tmobile won't unlock the phone until he fully paid off the balance of the phone. They won't blacklist your phone until he is paying monthly installment. Once he stopped paying then they will blacklist your phone. I doubt he will mess up his credit history not paying the monthly installment.

One thing to remember on Craiglist shopping you can't contact seller once deal is done ! Thats the risk you are taking when you are paying less. so you have to verify everything when you buy it.
As you are using it , i guess its not iCloud locked. If kaale stop paying and you got black listed do as other said : send it to nepal.

Try calling again. Different rep different solution. I got my iPhone unlocked within 10 days of activation. I still had about $500 balance owed on that phone; but i had bought it from t-mobile directly. They usually want us to wait about 40 days before they can unlock it.
The only difference on your case is somebody else bought the phone. I don't know how that works, but give another shot.
I would tell them I am going to Nepal in two weeks and need it unlocked so it works there.

Its not cheap to get t-mobile iphones unlocked. You're looking at $90. What i would do was sell that iPhone and buy another verizon or at&t iPhone. Verizon comes unlocked and at&t costs a buck to unlock.

Furke, i don't think they will do it, its not his phone.
