I see many Sajha threads about whether going back to Nepal is a good idea and many with good encouragement with regards to jobs, etc. However, I was curious to know from those of you who have already returned back to Nepal for good after living in the west for many years, perhaps decades, what were your challenges that you had to face when you returned to Nepal, or you are still facing. Is your life more positive now? Is there any regret?

We all know the usual issues like lack of clean water, electricity, good roads, problem with corruption, "chamchagiri", politics, etc. If you still feel bad for those lack of basic necessities or infrastructure and have better perspective, please share.

Please feel free to point out or share your challenges, efforts, discouragement, encouragement, etc.

Subjective view of the matter would be more helpful.

I have seen both sides of the coin. I have seen close friends that are enjoying and do not regret a bit about their decision to have returned to Nepal for good. Surely, there are challenges when it comes to social, economic and political systems that affects everyone's daily life, but they are enjoying their life and family.

On the other hand, I have also seen people that are not as much enjoying and are either trying to get out of the country or have already migrated to other countries like Australia, Canada, etc.

I think it really depends on one's perspective, what you're planning to do when you're there for good, how successful you become in your endeavor, and tolerance (social and materialistic) to some extent as well.

As i have seen , it really depends how much you can invest in Nepal or what you can do after you return. I have seen a person who returned and had some money to invest and now she is living life so well and another person tried to live on normal jobs out there and couldn't adjust there.

Ask me, I tried to return and settle there, I couldn't.
For instance, almost got killed driving on left side.
Most of my friends were not there, they're all abroad.
My brain is now wired, not for nepal.
Internet was damn fast though. I was amazed.
Rest is fcked up, you go to market, to petrol pump,
it's all messed up. Jahiley kehi na kehi kuro ko hahakar,
kahiley nepal bandh.. tait..

i go to KTM some years and I can say that your transition will not be easy. Public transport is dirty and not very organized. taxis are expensive and some cab drivers are just rude. Sales tax on car is about 200%. if you have a car, public parking is hard to find or expensive. People in general there are also very narrow minded and materialistic. They all want the latest apple gadgets and nice bike or nice car.

Also inflation is high, so prices of consumer goods, food everything is expensive relative to the average income.

For entertainment not much options, its Go out to eat, movie, or hiking..
