Here is a link. https://emrtds.nepalpassport.gov.np/ Passport renewal application should be available throughout the year. Figure out if there is a branch consulate nearby where you can apply in person. Otherwise, you will have to carefully read the instructions on the website and mail the instructed materials to the processing center. Make sure you use mail/courier service with a tracking number. They will never answer your phone calls in a million years. Email also, I don't think they will ever commit to that extra responsibility or tasks they choose not to handle even if they fall under their regular job duties. The current embassy in DC was at least neat, clean, and organized when I last visited. Their previous office had unimpressive furniture and ambience and whole place looked like a "kiraanaa pasal godaam" office in the southern border of Nepal. Some officers were very eager to help you out while the clerks acted as if they wished you had never shown up there. That's me speaking in a formal attire and putting on a most courteous demeanor in years. This is Nepal society represented by a consular office in not just an OECD country but a superpower nation. Good luck.

They do respond to emails "consular@nepalembassyusa.org". Follow the process It works. I got mine renewed recently. Had to be there for the biometrics. Folks at embassy in DC were pretty cooperative. Resources there are stretched pretty thin though.

Thank you very much for your helpful information. GeetMaiJawaafDiu : How do we figure out where consular service is available in the US ? The Embassy website doesn't say anything about consular service and says we have to be at the Embassy personally. Here we have a Nepalese association called NANC in North California but the people there don't provide that information publicly. There was a consular service provided in San Francisco last year (2022) for 2 days but only few people (afno manchhe haru) were informed a week in advance. GwachAquarian : Do we have to book a hotel in DC ? I m flying from California and most of the flights reach DC in the afternoon or evening. How easy is it to travel in DC ? Thank you again for all the helpful information.

If you reach there in the evening, it sounds like you really dont have a choice other than getting a place to crash for the night. Traveling in DC is ok..Embassy is pretty close to all the DC attractions, so suggest killing two birds with one stone..
