I was just wondering ...the ticket price for the show on monday at the VFW. Now I am checking out the premeir Rock shows at different venues in BOSTON. Average cost for ticket 5-15 bucks depending upon the popularity and size of the band and venue.

Now the Tamu samaz just did a show that cost $30 with appetizers, entree` and entertainment. Now this show without the appetizers, entree`and just the show itself is costong 20 bucks ? Now who are these guys again ? and why $20 ... we would like a bit of information. thank you

But really, sirish ji, don't you think it is kindda expensive, simply by the fact that 1974 AD was $20 (re) with so many members and playing live music as well as songs. Ani yaha ta dui jana playback dine haru ( no offence to the singer). $20-$25 would sound aiight if the show can offer MORE than one guy standing on the stage and singing on backgroud music. Perhaps there is more that they are offering, but yeso sodi haleko ni.

sound Engineer 200$
appliance Rantal 200$
Entertaining and feeding the tour group
Travelling costs
Profit...

etc

The cost actually adds up and the base line is the artist have come here to MAKE MONEY by entertaining you.

they must have some basis to determine the price otherwise they would not want turn away lots of audiences. Choice is yours.

The reason we got free halls earlier was because we were part of the ethnic community of greater Boston. Mostly we held our functions in MIT as a part of that organization with esp perks cause the colleges and universities are required to serve the neighbourhoods they are situated in. But with the 9/11.... now only registered organizations can hold functions there. And since there has been numerous members that have brought this subject matter up to the deaf ears of GBNC Board of INCOMPETENT Directors and the GBNC good for nothing Executive Comittee. But time and again they seem to ignore this plea and make the poor Nepali community pay more due to their INCOMPETENCE.
Price of a ticket in a regular venue in Greater Boston is averaging $15 and we're talkin a full fledge band with lighting system video and lazer show included. You expect people to pay $30 to see these two munkis jump up on stage and lipsing to the background music? I rather goto the zoo and watch the real munkis.

I am not a fan of Damodar but his points are valid.

We can bring the cost down by teaming up with the students union. Its rather unfortunate not being able to do that.

May be GBNC should start looking for registered Nepali orgs or register itself.

You are right shirish..my point is same like urs too..we must team up with all nepalese living here(students,legal or illegal all nepali)so we can be proud but it is really unfortunate that here nepalese are divided in many groups..sayad chahera ho ya nachahikana ho...they have many different feelings..it hurst me very badly...!!

Above all we have to stay in unity not in divided...ma ta gaye hai aba chahi kaamma!!

And another thing why the hell are we paying for sound engineer and equipment. If those guys want to have shows let them bring their own equipment or they can pay for it themselves. When bands go on tours they bring their own equipment and roadies to set their stage up, I thought GBNC owned their own equipment(or at leat thats what we were told couple of years ago the they bought amps and speakers for GBNC functions SO THAT WE THE MEMBERS DON"T HAVE TO PAY THE RENTAL FEE ALL THE TIME). I wonder what happened to those equipment. I guess the board of directors are sleeping while the exec. members are running the show at their whim.

Why are we still renting equipment ? Don't we have our own the ones we bought 2 or 3 yrs ago ?
