he problem with democracy in Nepal is that nobody has learnt that democracy comes with a lot of responsibility. Democracy does NOT mean breaking side bars in Ratna Park when there is a fuel price hike. Democracy does not mean horse trading every three months just to remain in the power. And Democracy does not mean killing poor and helpless people to show your muscle. Democracy means lots of responsibility - as a citizen and as a politician. If people can not understant that responsibility, then democracy in not for that place. In the US, people understand their duties as a citizen and therefore democracy flourish here. In Nepal, people need to be educated first about the democracy.
The only thing we can hope for at this time is that this king would be a patriotic dictator who will think about his fellow citizen. Can you imagine what would have happened at this very moment if this same coup had come from the Maoists?
