Hi, I am a Nepalese citizen currently in USA. I had done my undergraduate degree in India. I had applied for Canadian Green Card and now I got a letter from the Canadian Consulate asking for the Indian Police Clearance Certificate. Anyone knows how to get that? I would really appreciate any info that you could provide. Thanks, Katrina

Canadian PR process application clearly mentions that do not try to obtain POLICE CERTIFICATE from countries listed in so and so. [ INDIA and NEPAL fall in that list] They themselves have mentioned that they would get it on their own. So, all you need to do is remind them of their process, I guess (o: =================================================== as always what do i know (o:

Thanks Thapap. But now they started asking police-certificate from India and Nepal as well. You are right that they didn't need it before, but since a year ago or so, they started asking for it.

nah warrior princess xena, muh no lawyer. i wish i was.. then i wud b printing $$. cannot lie. that's y me stuck here. c i am already lyk couple of yrs late. I reviewed those processes lyk a long tym ago... so it seems that I have been out of touch of the system. Katrina, for you all I can suggest is ask ur JUNIORS who r in that University. Spend lyk IRs. 200 for nasta paani for beloved daroga in the city. Be polite to those ppl and ask them they would help you all you can. Tell them you need that for the Security clearance for Job. You can get any Police Certificate if u need to have it. They would photo stat on the IPS letter head and sign it for u (O: ==================================================== as always, what else do i know (o:

If they insist on your providing the Police Clearance Certificate from India then try the Indian Embassy. The one in Kathmandu takes about a week to prepare it. You could probably send someone on your behalf with a letter from you stating the dates, place(s) of your residence in India, along with photocopies of your passport, nagarikta, and the letter from the Canadian consulate stating the need of the certificate. You can call the consular section at 4410900/4414990/4411699 between 3 and 5pm. Try the Indian Embassy in the US first. Hemendra

katrina for that u have to go to the PARARASTRA MANTRALAYA which is near teaching hospital and have to show them ur certificate and time u were there. Then they will write a letter to the Indian Embassy. U have to take that letter to the Indian embassy with the copy of ur passport and transcript. In the one window over there they will handle these kind of cases. Have to pay like 200 or something like that. After that they will tell u to contact them after 10-15 days and just have to visit after that days and they will give u the police certicater from there. thats it if u need further info then just mail me in my add. I too used to study in india and thats what i got it from indian embassy. i have a copy of that so just mail me then if u wanna look at that i can fax that in ur number

If you already know of somebody (such as juniors, student's union, alumni association ...), ask them to help you; that will be the fastest means of getting it done. The other option is go to the nearest indian diplomatic outlet (embassy / consulate) and tell them all these stuff. I cant predict how those in the US will behave but the one located in Vancouver (Canada) did help one of my friends (who is an indian but told me that the proces is same for all) to get it done and they also gave him a receipt of application for police clearance certificate (which assured him at least). They dont need police certificates at the *beginning* of the application process but they might ask it at a later time. All the best Keep rolling...
