I would like to ask sajha members to "Never use Law Office of Sheila Murthy" in Baltimore, Maryland for any immigration matter because they don't provide good service. Basically, I paid $200 for consultation (I could have gotten that service FREE from many other good attorneys) in middle November last year to get some advice on my case. They asked me to send all pertinent documents which I did. It's been now 2 months and I haven't heard from the attorney yet. I have called and email her (they don't give the direct email/phone address of the attorney so I have to contact her receptionist) several times and NO LUCK so far.I am really frustrated with their service so I want to let all Sajha members know that they take precaution before using her service or don't even use her service because there are plenty of other attorneys. They took my money easily but they are not providing the service. I just wanted to share my frustration. Thanks for reading.....

Sorry to hear that. Did you use your free pre-hire consulation before you went ahead and paid them $200 for advice? I would suggest everyone that unless you have very special circumstances in your case, you can find answers to almost all of your immigration related questions at www.uscis.gov or some other online immigration forums. With the abundance of online information, I'm a bit surprised immigration attorneys still make money like they used to.

Lilly, Sorry to hear about the unfortunate situation you are in and although it's great that you warn Sajha members about this office, a better course of action may be to call the State Bar Association and file an official complaint against her. Every State Bar has provisions for "disciplinary hearings" on wrongful conduct by the State Bar registered lawyers and if she is such an attorney then, the State Bar may take action against her. If they do, the charges and outcome will be a part of her public profile that others who want to hire her can see. I hope you get either your money back or that she gets your work done. Good luck.
