Govt warns us action against religious fundamentalists

Kantipur report

KATHMANDU, May 26 - Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula said on Thursday that the government would take strong action against those promoting religious fundamentalism and plotting against democracy.
Speaking at the House of Representatives, Sitaula said the government was committed to take strong action against those who are carrying out anti-secularist activities for anti-democratic ends.

"I assure you that all those plotting against democracy in the name of pushing their fundamentalist ideas will not be spared," Sitaula told MPs.

He also informed that all police and administrative mechanisms have been instructed to take such activities under control.

Sitaula was responding to queries raised by MPs in the House. Earlier, the MPs rapped the government for its failure to arrest and penalize those who led the anti-democratic drive before April 24, and are still actively plotting against the democratic government.

Om Shanti Shanti. Gautam Buddha janmiyeko desh kasari "Hindu" ko matra desh huna sakchha? Guys, start thinking positively, stop blaming individuals and let's join hands to establish peace again.

Yo phool Buddha ko janmastan Mayadevi Temple ko parishar ma phooleko thiyo last year in June: yesko sandesh pada ra manan gara--we need peace lasting forever!

I have no idea why this Mike Bibby called Mandale to all who disagrees with him. This is very serious issue in Nepal now. There are almost 85% to 90% hindus in Nepal and do you think that this Sitaula can controll them? I don't think so. Royal regime used to called terrorist to all democracit fighter and this govt start calling everyone who disagrees with them are ani-democracy? If the house pass this terror, atocratic voice of this Sitaula's then Babari Mandhir's ghatana from Kasmir will come to Nepal.

Just wondering, is this home minister is related to any sitaula in USA? Heard some rumer about it in America?

But the fact is, if Sitaula makes this kind of stupid remarks then there will be more bloody war in Nepal for sure. I hope Nepal will be free of violence. No more war please.

I think what Mike Bibby meant - and I am just opining on my own, I don't and can't speak for him - is that one of the "glorious" characteristics of "mandaleys" back in the Panchayat days was that they would lable anyone who did not agree with them as "arastriya tattwa."

Perhaps the fact that the lable of "terrorist" was put on Home Minister Sitaula by the originator of this thread in its title could be construed as a work of a "mandaley".

:-)

Why the f&ck you need to have a tag of "Hindu Nation"? How is that connected to what you believe in?

Hindu Religious fundamentalists have their right to peaceful demonstration as well as any muslim nepali has it if he wants to make Nepal an Islamic Nation if he wants to as far as there is no violence involved.

Moriarty's complaint
Kathmandu , 26 May: American Ambassador James F. Moriarty recently met PM Girija Prasad Koirala and complained him about the poor political performance of the government, writes Samakaleen weekly.

According to sources, Moriarty showed some serious concerns about the unlikely connection between Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula and the Maoists.

Meanwhile, PM Koirala has warned those parties -- except NC and UML -- to take necessary action against those who tries to breach the recent parliamentary announcement.

The following statement of the PM has been criticized by the analyst stating that in a democratic system there must be such condition where the voice of the opposition parties should also be considered or else that system is not suitable enough to be called democratic.

The restored parliament has tried to exercise its power beyond its limit by changing those points of the 1990 constitution that were unchangeable, according to Supreme Court Judge, Anupraj Sharma, the recent announcement made by the parliament could be questioned in the court as it is illegitimate.
