Dear all Nepali Folks,

What do u guys think is not it the right time NOW to shift away Kathmandu as Capital to other places in da country ??? Or is it better to decentralise the Administrative, Bureaucracy, Judicial and Security Apparatus into Region with Federal System introduced??

- Dharan
- Pokhara
- Chitwan
- Nepalgunj
- Biratnagar
- Birgunj
-Dhangadi
.............................Please keep on adding as per availability of resources, infrastructrues, accessibilities etc etc.

i think chitwan will be a great place. it'll be easier to develop plains than hills

Chitwan would be most centrally located in terms of access to and from the rest of the country. However, it would no longer put the capital half-way between the northern and the southern border... would that be an issue?

Do u happen to know when east and west germanyt united, and the then west germany decided to move their capital from Bonn to berlin... how much was the cost??

And why do u think Nepal and Nepalese should bear that cost (moving the capital city) instead of investing on education, roads...

Because they never shifted the Capital, everybody wanted to own a piece of land in Kathamndu and build a small ghaderi. And we nepalese had to pay way high costs for this simple reason. Poeple became corrupt in Nepal... and ha ha Kathamndu became like a GU City, crowded, polluted and degraded. ha ha.. So it's time to shift the Capital to Dharan.

People became so corrupted, all the development budget went into the pockets of the people in Nepal just to buy a piece of land in kathamndu. That's the price the country paid becuase they kept Kathamndu always Capital.

best way will be to decentralize ministries from KTM instead of changing the capital. Changing capital does not change the situation of KTM might be lil bit but not much. Best will lbe to change leaders, change their thinkings and attitudes. Peace, Nepal.

yah i am happy to know at least somebody thought about this.ktm is not only overcrowded and no place to extend anywhere but also critical in the sense that if only one highway is blocked by landslide or bloody strike, it will go on scramble.so time to think seriously to shift but need a place that should have a place for large international airport, huge place to extend in all corner even after 1000 years can breath easily,must be secure from international border from all four directions... so in my mind around chitwan area seem to be good! and most importantly if u blocked east, we can bring essential things from west or south

Its not urgent but gradually becoming important issue.
Chitwan is good place (geographically). But 2nd Int'l airport must be in Dang Valley. There was a feasibility study for Dang Valley also. Many people suggested Bara (Nijgadh), but that location is under the strong influence of monsoon trough during the monsoon period.
There will be regional balance in our development effort, if Dang is selected.
There must be east-west railway, which is possible and Nepal can afford it.

FCK no i dont want pokhara be the capital......i dont want my beautiful city to be like Kathmandu...one of the most polluted capitals in the whole.........its better now....
