Aircraft crashes in New York

A small aircraft has crashed into a high-rise residential building at 72nd Street and York in Manhattan, police said. Police are en route to the site, said to be at 525 E. 72nd Street. Flames and smoke could be seen pouring from the high rise apartment as fire engines raced to the scene.

Does not seem like an accident. The pilot must have thought that he could bring down the building with 30 gallons of aviation fuel. haha stupid

What the heck!! Doesnt look like another terrorist act to me though. Just the words 'small plane' and 'apartment building' makes me think its an accident, not an attack. I hope not a lot of people have been killed.

if it's NOT an attack, then why is it "breaking news" in the first place? :P

on a serious note, let the story unfold, time will tell! senate election is around the corner and if NK's nuke test was not an inconspicuous signal to the US, this could well be. i am not ready to buy any speculation at the moment though.

Well, when that lawyer dude said that he was the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby, they put is as breaking news for few hours. So did the Amish school shooting, E-coli, and sometimes Brangelina's adoption. Media just needs something to kill the day. Any 'new' news gets equal priority so lands the prime 'breaking news spot'. I highly doubt that this incident will have any effect on the upcoming election. This news will be history in few days as the media have Foley, Iraq, and North Korea to keep themselves busy!

yeah, anything is breaking news these days. i subscribed to the cnn breaking news email alert few months back just to keep myself updated but later realised that it's been sending me petty stuffs like britney spears delivering a baby as breaking news so i had to resort to directing the channel to junk. :p

as for this incident, with due respect to the lost lives, if any, i honestly don't feel it's worth any short of upheaval in the world arena albeit things are yet to get unfolded. with some leverage of levity, let me say that it would be nice to see bush's thunder getting stolen. oh, how i wished to see his sour face yet again :P

The plane was registered to the yankees pitcher cory lidle. it is thought to be an accident and not a terrorist attack.....

sad loss for the yankees though
