out of the 41 sachin centuries, India has won 32 times. Only 9 times has India lost with Sachin getting a century. Out of the 9 times, 5 of them came after 2003 world cup. If if you see his career, he has been an absolute match winner before o till 2003 cup. But affter that, he has lost his spark but is still among the best.
He has won the man of the match awards 59 times and the player second to him is Jayasirya with 31 times. Since man of the match is mostly awarded to winning teams, Sachin is definitely a class batsman.
It sad that he is from India where Cricket is such a big issue. So every of his failure are noticed and blown out of proportion.
If Inzi, jayasurya, dravid, Lara or Ponting goes through a lean phase, nobody notices it, but if Sachin averages only 35 its a national and international issue.

Crystal cracker. Lara bats at 4-5 . so we can never expect him to score centuries regularly. But sachin outside india has struggled . We all know how he failed in southafrica just recently. Then again in india he scored.

Pak has to defeat Zimbabwe not only to take the 2 points and tie with WI but by a huge margin to come over WI in terms of run rate.
Even then, since WI defeated Pak, they would be ruled out of the tournament.....so this is "mission impossible" now....

Balbhadra how can you sayu 70% people would like to watch Sachin over lara. Ask any neutral supporter whome they pay to watch. 3 of Lara's innings features in wisden top 20 innings of all time. Sachin has none in top 100. And your explanation of lara's 400 agaist england is hilarious. When lara made 400 England had the best bowling in the world with harmission number 1 in ranking followed by simon jhones and Andrew flintoff.

And of course Sachin has never played an innings like Lara's 153* against australia to win the match by one wicket. Wisden ranks it 2nd in all time ranking. Lara has 9 double centuries unlike sachin whose started with Zimbabwe and ended with bangladesh.


But this is the day of irish.Anyway i am happy about irish win . I posted irish win in sajha a day before the game started. I also feel India or england should be careful. Kenya or Bangladesh may qualify for super eight in their expense.

Pakistan's cricket fraternity reacted with shock and anger to the team's three-wicket loss to Ireland in their group stage match in Jamaica with Intikhab Alam, the former player and coach of Pakistan, calling it the "lowest point in Pakistan cricket". Ireland bowled out Pakistan for 132 and then chased the score with 32 balls remaining to send Pakistan crashing out of the World Cup.

"Irish players rose to the occasion, they meant business and looked more motivated than us,' Alam told Associated Press. With Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Asif and Abdul Razzaq, Pakistan's key fast bowlers, not making the squad due to injuries, the side had been considerably weak going into the opening match of the World Cup. But Alam refused to put down injuries as an excuse for the loss. "No matter who was playing for us and who was not [playing], the bottom line is that still we had more experienced players in our ranks than Ireland,' he insisted.

Rashid Latif said that as a former Test captain he felt ashamed by Pakistan's defeat. "It's [the defeat] a crime with cricket, what else do they want? It's better they should leave,' Latif said. "All the [Pakistan] former Test cricketers kept pointing toward the weaknesses in our team for months before the World Cup but nobody listened. I was not expecting such a shameful performance. I have no words to describe it.'

Sarfraz Nawaz, the former Paksitan fast bowler, said that if the team couldn't beat Ireland then Pakistan cricket was in the wrong hands. "It's better that all who are responsible for this should be shown the door.," said Nawaz. "The wicket was suitable for seamers and Ireland won the crucial toss, but we lost fair and square without putting up a fight.'
