One Russian blogger have met Gregory Perelman, Russian mathematician
who refused to get $1,000,000 Field’s prize some months ago. He didn’t
give any interviews and refused to meet anybody. And here he is, in St.
Petersburg subway (his native city). According to the comment by the
guy who made photos: “He looks like totally homeless trash, he had a
very big nail on one of his fingers and was constantly touching with it
his mouth. I was amazed why nobody recognized him, I was making a
photos with my camphone trying not to attract his attention. Later,
when I told my friends that I met Perelman in the subway many just
asked “Who is he?†so I understood why nobody recognized him.â€

Rame, r u refering to 'Fields Medal' which he refused to accept. I think the amount is $15,000 and this was on august 2006. Or you talking about Millennium Prize for solving one of the seven problems in mathmatics(each problem solver gets $1,000,000.00)?

Yes did not accept Field medal ......But about Millennium Prize, the fact is following
.............Perelman may also be due to receive a share (or the totality) of a Millennium Prize. The rules for this prize—which can be changed, as stated by a member of the advisory board of the Clay Mathematics Institute—require his proof to be published in a peer-reviewed
mathematics journal. While Perelman has not pursued publication
himself, other mathematicians have published papers about the proof.
This may make Perelman eligible to receive a share or the whole of a
prize. Perelman has stated that "I'm not going to decide whether to
accept the prize until it is offered................
