Michael Jordan is considered to be the greatest ever, but is Kobe Bryant better? This is not me who consider this as I am unaware about the game of Jordon as don't remember watching live any of his game. But the debate has been started by Yahoo..in one of its thread. What you guys think? I think Kobe is a great player but don't know if he is better than Jordon or Johnson or anyone else.

I say, combined with skills, and physical abilities on what Kobe can do on the hardwood, he is the BEST player in the NBA right now....His skill set is better than Jordan's..... Obviously, I am biased in my opinion, coz I am one of the biggest Kobe Fan ever....Having said that, I have to say, Kobe has been the victim of Unfair criticism, and thus, its easy to find people who love to hate Kobe. Kobe's fan are in two groups, those who love him, and those who love to hate him, which is unfortunate. I was listening to Rex Chapman, Denver Nuggets' Vice President of Perosnnel development, who played against Jordan and Kobe both, and his feelings were Kobe is a better physical specimen than Jordan, but Jordan had better intangibles.....That's a judgement call......Also, given Jordan has 6 rings, and Kobe has only 3, people tend to count that against Kobe...which is flawed argument to begin with.....If you compare one player against another, I do not think the rings should play that big of a role.....Its not like Jordan hit every game winning shot.....there were several times with Pippen, S.Kerr etc carried the load for him...so is the case for Kobe....

Spot on KC Bro! Kobe is without a doubt one of the skilled players ever. Jordan is a legend and one of the greatest players the world has ever seen in any sports for that matter but I like Kobe better just beacuse I'm his huge fan since I started watching basketball. I dont mean to say that Kobe is better than Jordan but what what I imply is that it's just a matter of choice and whom you love to watch and have a passion about them.

I think an individual brilliance leads to a team victory but an Invidual is good as his/her team. Did Jordan has an edge over current Kobe just because he was in better team? or his competetior were less good than current defence of other team? Kobe is in a team with too many junior player since 2005/06 season, did that make him a better or a worse player? I think we will need to consider all these factors before comparing between the two.

Good to see Bob_Dai, Aakash back..... Just like Lanthus.....there are several "IGNORANT" NBA fans who hate Kobe just for what its worth...a mere HATE ! If not, let the argument begin....Its not only US who are saying Kobe is one of the best offensive player ever...Steve Kerr once wrote the same...Mind you, Steve Kerr won championships with MJ and the Bulls....he knows MJ inside out...coming that from a man who saw MJ day in and day out got to mean something.... - http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=sk-mailbag033007&prov=yhoo&type=lgns The defense in the 90s is over-rated. Magic never played defense...Larry Bird never played defense....For crying out loud, Charles Barkley never played defense either !! I think the fact that the players in general are more athletic than ever, because of the innovation in diets and workout routines has added to the offensive side of the bowl. If you have a will for defense, you can still play defense...How come San Antonio, Houston, Detroit are known for their defense?? I think we tend to generalize too much, and miss the big picture when it comes to athletes, and the game in general.... Sorry, the argument is getting off the topic...Kobe is the best !! MJ is in his own domain !

Man common, I know kobe is skilled, he is talented, he can shoot but he is in no way better than jordan. Two things he can do, first is quit that BS attitude of his and start acting like a gentelman and second is start passin the ball and let him team member shoot too. It seems like at times his team members just get get confused and dont know what to do when they get the ball in the hand. He needs to get lAKERS on a winning road not only score 50 points with no assist.

YeahHoliday: Before he went on a scoring spree, let me remind you, they lost 7 in a row....and he had 30 + points, 6+ rebounds, 5+ assists.......He scored 50+ in a row, and they won 4 in a row.....End of argument ! Its his greatness that he can elevate his game when the entire team is struggling, and lead them to the path of winning !

But he needs to start acting right. Did u watch yesterdays loss to houston. Man he was waiving to the refree during the game, and showin his frstrations all the time. n finally lakers lost cause of his silly travel which he was arguing about too

Well, the NBA season spans through 82 games.......I watched the entire game yesterday....when Kobe was in the Bench, Lakers chould not score a point in the 4th qtr.....he came back, and he had 12 straight...and eventually his 3 pointer sent it to the overtime........The travel was unfortunate though........Yao was great yesterday....Kwame could not guard him....or Bynum for that matter...... Yeahholiday..what do you mean by waiving at the referee? Come on now.....its a part of the game.....have u ever seen a player who has agreed the call against him by a referee??? Its not like the referees don't make bad calls...they have had their share of mishaps......

They do, I understand. I was mentioning the fact that he was waiving his hands and making comments about a call during a play, when he had the ball in his hand. I know how kobe bryant fans are, as I told u my roomate is one too. U need to agree though that he does have the game but not the attitude to be called one of the best players. Good sportmanship is part of the game my fren.

First of all good topic - at least some people are not talking about politics. Don't know what they're trying to achieve - develop nepal online??? This is what Pippen had to say sometime in 2002 or 03 - "If we were paying right now, we would be playing for our 9th championship." I don't necessarily agree with him, but it's kind of hard to disagree too. If MJ had not left, he would be in good condition to win at least 1 more. And Pippen has always been the first to say Michael's the best ever. I guess he's right.

Well, that's not given though Hafta..... Lakers could say thing, if Magic had not retired Coz of his HIV illness, Lakers would have won more championships, and thus limiting Chicago's chances....Truth of the matter is, Bulls had a nice run, and they won 6.......and this topic is in no way degrading MJ's performance.....It is just a mere attempt to realize how good Kobe is.....Becoz of the Colorado incident, and the collision of triangle Ego among Shaq, Phil and Kobe, its only Kobe who has been critisized, and that too UNFAIRLY ! I think it was Shaq who broke the Lakers...otherwise, when he went to Miami in 04, he said he had high respect for Phil Jackson. Recently, Shaq called out Phil and says his relationship with Phil is over with...simply because Phil said Shaq was the laziest player when he was with the Lakers......what does that tell you?? I think the legacy of a player is not fully appreciated until he/she retires, and so is the case with respect to Kobe. Just like we don't compare Magic against MJ, when its all said and done, Kobe will be in a spot of his own...and other players will be compared against him, not vise versa....
