Here is my experience with gulf air.
-Bad Treat with Nepalis. They think all are Labour
-You need to wast One Day for ticket reconfromation in Nepal ( To be on line)
-Really bad customer service
I left US on Dec 15 for Nepal. From Dallas to Frankfurt, it serves by American Airlines and then gulf air.Upto Baharin, it is ok.At baharin, they think we are only labour and they treat like that. When i book ticket it was 12:30 flight but they change to 3:15.They will give you free meal if your flight time is longer than 6 hours.Oh my god they issue token for free meal and you have to go upstairs and then they will give you chicken bhat and they think they are giving free for begger. If you are Other kind of citizen besides Nepali then they will treat good way.Later on plane was delayed for 4 hours again so that it will be 7:15 AM which is more than 12 hours transit.Again they were not decided , even 7:15 AM was over there was no sign to fly to KTM by gulf air. Finally, even their display was 7:15. They started boarding at 8:30 AM. Finally, we boarded there, they told us we can have any seats, it does not matter where you seat. They did not apoligize for delay. It was so old Plane, i was scared.Due to our Nepali daju bhai's behavour, air hostes does not treat good way. They will give you food as they like not like your choice.May be due to uneducated people. Finally, plane was landed somewhere 3 PM at KTM.My suite case was opened and lost my cell phones and cameras.
When i try to do reconfirm ticket, you need to get token at 9 AM and be on line.I was little late, my number was 118 but it was already 122.they said i need to come again other day get token and be in line for one day and get reconfirmed. They are so rude their in KTM. Lagcha sarkari kaam gaye jasto. Ke ho yo paisa tirer pani. When i returned from KTM, it was big bhid though, plane take off on time. At Baharin, they do security check and security check person so rude that they speak their language and scolding us.Bottom line is, they dont treat KTM-BHR-KTM flight in a good way.
Bottom line--GULF air SUCKS

I had a route from chicago-london via american airlines and then london-baharin, baharin-ktm via gulf air. I didn't have any problems with the airlines or the flight attendent. But our Nepali daju bhai behavior was really frustrating. they were just asking for alcoholic beverages again and again which i think was frustrating the flight attendents. furthermore our daju bhai were not listening to any safety instructions. The funniest incident was that all daju bhai get off their seat while the plane was running on the runway after landing at TIA while the flight attendent was pleading passengers to be remain seated until the plane comes to complete stop.
but the customer service of gulf airlines at ktm was disappointing. Had to be on the line to get the token to get the service for reconfirming ticket. I went early in the morning to be on the line so i didn't have to stay whole day at the gulf air office.

What do you expect dude? How may millions nepalese are labor in gulf countries? we nepalese get very happy when koreans, Malasians, Gulf countries hire us as a labor and that becomes a headline news in Kantipur. We only get treated better if we start to sending programers, engineers in Gulf.
Didn't we treat Madhesi like that, may be worst than that. we think all madhesi from india and they all buy "Khali sisi purano Kagaz". Don't we think all blacks are robber? Don't we think all Muslims are terrorists? I guess it's just a human nature. If we like to be treated good, we have to make nepal better.
And now I am afraid, if we get treated worst than this in coming years.

I couldn't help myself from writing here by reading this thread..
Please don't forget where we came from...and that doesn't mean we are that bad.
Don't underestimate our nepalese workers who sacrifice to go abroad and they are one of the biggest earners for the country. They suffer many years in such harsh condition and we compalin about the travel that takes max 2 days....
Think about our own airline--nepal airline...whats up with that?
I m supporting Nepalese daju, bhai, didi, and bahini in middle east and other countries..
So lets try to act lil more Nepali sometimes...
Good Luck...Oh by the way I hope you will have a good service next time.

nischals,
We are Nepali, we came from Nepal, and we are not bad. But imagine if you are not a Nepali, and you meet Nepali People everyday who act disgusting, have no manners, don't follow the instructions, and treat others like shit, esp. the air hosteses.
And you expect a good quality customer service from them. Is that going to happen?
of course not. I do respect our Nepali Daju Bhai who are working hard on those countries, just because their own country could not provide them with the opportunity. And I respect the hardship they are going through to look after their families and feed their kids. But i do believe that they should learn some manners, so that All other Nepalese won't be the victim of unfair treatment, just because of their actions.

Hi,
I guess the best solution that I can think of at this time is that all Nepalese living abroad should go back to Nepal with their earnings and help other Nepalese--mainly in education sector.
But is that going to happen?
You all know the answer...

I couldn't help myself to write something here. After a while in a foreign land esp living in the West, you tend to get used to those "services of civilized people". Not only you'll see the difference when you go back, often you get amazed. Our people back home, it's a common thing to do and they take it for granted. Ask them, they'll have no comprehension what it mean by "service" and "honesty".We have adapted them into our value and culture. Come on we were all like that once, so what's all these fuss about? If you expect them to change, start changing your life style first.

I agree with you guys. The customer service at the Baharian airport was also disappointing. I stayed at the airport lobby for 17 hrs as a transit even though they were supposed to provide us a hotel if we have more than 8 hrs transit.
It was really frustrating.

Some of the Nepalese daju bhai are flying first time in their life. They have no idea what is customer service and all. and some who are coming back are so excited that before the plane land they will take of their seat belt and run. One of the bro out there almost broke my nose with elbow, when he hurriedly grabbed his case tied with 5 meter rope.Well, what was i suppose to do?They are too excited. Flying in Gulf is fun actually , you get to see lot of amazed Nepalese. best thing is the food is amazing as well.Burnt roti and dal and chicken ho ki alu , really you can't differentiate.Dried sabai for dessert. hahahaha.. Learned my lesson. Will pay $200 more but will never fly Gulf airlines.

...Well...I left on December 2 via Chicago-Paris-Bahrain-KTM and back via KTM-Bahrain-London-Chicago on January 2. I did not had any problems with GULF...I thought they were lot better than Qatar. At Bahrain we had 16 hours transit and they got the 1 day transit visa for us and took us to the Downtown area (15-20 minutes drive) and kept us in a 5 star luxurious Hotel for free with free Dinner and Breakfast. They came and pick us up at 10 in the morning. We get to see Bahrain and spent 2-3 hours just sight seeing...We really enjoyed it...and since we get to sleep at Hotel we did not felt any jet-lags...Bahrain to KTM was ok due to our nepali Daju-bhai who kept on asking for more drinks and some guys actually started fighting inside plane ()...and yes it is true that everyone will start getting up as soon as plane lands...but hey most of those Nepalese brothers were probably too excited to come back home..I understand...and also they were not instructed in Nepalese language either...it was just arabic and English...so how can we expect all them Nepalese to understand all the safety instructions??? hoina ra??
...But for us, we did not had any problems and I will definitely travel with Gulf again...lot better than Qatar..

To travel Nepal is so difficult because of these so called democratic party leaders. At the time of Panchayat RNAC used to get the best airlines of the year award,it used to have 29 Air craft in total including 3 boing 757 and two 727.After the Jan Andolan-1 Girija putri sold two 727 jet since then RNAC started to go down hill.RNAC used to get 20 tickets revenue for KTM-LON sector bothway for the British Gurkha Army from British Ministry Of Defence which was awarded to Qatar Airways by UML's So called communist avition minister Bhim Bahadur Rawal. He awrded qatar Air to make KTM its hub without charging any royalty.where as I remember Thai air used to pay $25/passenger to pick and drop calcutta to/from KTM in the route Bangkok-Calcutta-Ktm route. In a embassy party Mr bekh bahadur Thapa(that time he was ambassador to India) told us how these Ministers ask khulleaam GHOOS. When RNAC stopped its European flights due to lack of aircraft NorthWest Airlines Vice President approached Mr Thapa that Northwest Air will give a wide bodied Aircraft to RNAC in return they just want to fly with code sharing .Mr thapa went to Ktm with Vice president to see aviation minister Mr Gachhedar and american just came back with anger because Mr Gachhedar ask khaire what will be his share accepting free aircraft. Now foreign ministry is in UML's Bhagma so year ago Makune came to London With ghoos/comission expert Bhim bahadur Rawal to arrange the sale of first ever South asian Embassy in London which is a pride for all of us, Nepalese Embassy in LONDON for the bhag shanti jai nepal.I go to Nepal twice a year because of gulf and Qatars staffs attitude problem I go to Nepal via Delhi .Delhi air porport has been changed due to privatsation.Normaly I fly to Bagdogra because I'm from Biratnagar. From Bagdogra to Biratnagar is only 150KM roughly 100miles.which is very cheap way to trave for me from London.

there are 48 european and more or less same numbers of Asian Airlines operates to Delhi. If you land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport there is free shuttle bus to domestic terminal (Old SufdarGanj Airport )which is otherside of runway shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes and free which goes thru inside crossing the runway. If you arrived at delhi and have more than three hours transit stay at international transit lounge.Security try to push you early but dont listen them just tell them i have enough time and want to stay here otherwise i will speak to your manager?International transit lounge is clean, has AC,Toilets are reasonable and has nice sofas to lie down. There are three Air lines which operates Delhi to bagdogra,Jet Air,Indian Airlines and cheapest one is budget airlines Deccan Air.Ticket costs Ic3000/=to 4000/= depnding seasons and demand.I normaly(2 tmes) prefer Jet Air because I can buy Jet Air Ticket in London using my credit card which is around £80/= one way.Jet Air and Indian Air gives 30KG baggage allowance where as Deccan gives 15Kg only. there are some flights goes to bagdogra via Guhawati some are direct. On my return journey I fly from KTM to delhi because I dont have to recheck in at delhi. If you show your confirm connecting flights at KTM they will take you to transit hall from the air craft after a while respective airlines rep will come to you and ask you to recognised your luggege and give you the boardin pass for the onward journey.
hope these information is enough for you if you need any more dont hesitate.Once I have travelled to Biratnagar by train( RajhDhani express to Katihar) also.now you can get reservation of Indian Railway In Nepal also. There will be broad guage line before March to Jogbani and there will be direct trains to Delhi,Calcutta and Patna from jogbani.iN Nepal Dugar Brothers is Indian Railways authorised agent.Your relative can buy ticket and they can send you tickets by email you just have to print out ticket. At Delhi air port you can get pre paid taxi or DTC shuttle bus or Bus service run by Bhut Purva Sainik towards down Town and railway stations. They allow you to take luggege and costs you Rs50/= may be now gone up I'm talking about May 07.
