Hello everybody,

My visa (Student/F-1) has expired and It takes October to get H-1B. I may have to go to Canada during my OPT before I get my H-1B. So far as I know, I can come back with valid I-20. However. Do you guys have any experience or idea about this issue ?

looks like we wont be able to return with expired visa, i found the following statement in one of the site provided by C boy

"If you do not have a valid entry visa for the United States, you cannot obtain one in the United States. You must schedule an appointment to visit the U.S. Embassy or Consulate while you are in Canada."

I'm in the same situation, looks like i can only go after October 1st

You can come back to US within 30 days after visiting Mexco, Canada and some carebian country with current I-20 though your VISA is expired . However, you are in OPT, I am not sure you will get permission or not. Because your purpose of VISA is fulfilled. If you are still going to School than no problem. Since you are in OPT, think carefully.
