As I know, you can't eligible for OPT/CPT, unless you joined for further advance level (Ph.D.)

Yakima,

Yes you can. Everest2, please get your facts straight. AS per INS rule, F1 student need to be in full-time standing and has already been in F1 status in the US for one academic year, i.e. 9 mths. You should be able to get CPT in two business days cosidering the fact that you have all your documents ready.

Send me an e-mail if you have any question, I would be more than happy to get you through this.

GoodLuck

Tha Dude

Once you have enjoyed your OPT (or CPT) facilities in the same level i.e. MBA. You can't get such facilities in the same level, as I know. You may consult with your international legal advisor. If you can then, everybody can make admission for different fields year and another and can enjoy for full-time jobs.

If you want to detail facts, write to me email directly. I will be glad to provide if you need in depth. Please let me share you view, if you can enjoy. It will be great for me to know it.

Thanks and good luck

I am not sure about CPT, but one can not have OPT for same level degree if it has been already been used.  CPT could be provided but its better to consult your international office.  if your advisor can send a letter mentioning that your  job is related to the courses you are taking, you may be granted.

Will you be able to apply for your OPT after your master, if in case you do apply for a CPT while still completing your degree?

Any insight will be highly appreciated.

Here is some information to you all.

OPT (Optional Practical Training) can't be implied for students who has used there CPT for more than 11 months in total. Again, this CPT needs to be full-time.

CPT (Curricular Practical Training) can be used for as long as you are in the program. There is no time limit. However, some college provide CPT for 3 or 6 or a year and it needs to be renewed two weeks before it expires, if you still hold the job. No matter what program or field you are in. You need to have job that correalates to your academic.

Please do some research on these topic. Suggestions in regards to topic like these are career changing for people with little or no experience in these fields.

GoodLuck everybody.

tha dude:

CPT can be used for 364 days during the program of study and still a person will be eligible for OPT.  however, if a person uses CPT more than that, the person can not get OPT.

AAAA,

I agreed with AAAA, point and it's absolutely correct. Once you used more than 364 days you can't eligibile for OPT  in practical situation. However, CPT can be extendend if the course is related part of completion of degree/program.

You can consult with the borad visionary person in this topic.i.e. Tha Dude or any other legal advisor. It will be more meaningful for you rather than insulting for anybody in this forum, while sharing the real information for others.

Good luck.

I know someone who completed his bachelor in Chemical Eng..., had OPT for  a year, went back to college to join Medical Terchnology degree and had OPT again for second time at the same level of study. I am not sure exactly what is the creteria for this. My assumption was same like many of yours -- one OPT at the same level of degree. Just to make sure I called this person and he confirmed me that he got OPT for second time and waiting for his H1...........Another thing when you use full year of full time CPT , you don't qualify for OPT for that study or degree. However, you can  get permission not to enroll in classes when you have fulltime CPT. I am not sure about the time period either it is whole year or 1 semster...............

thanks...............
