What is the actual reason behind the outrageous powercuts in Nepal? I am really interested in knowing the real reasons. I know many will blame the government and so all, which may be an aspect but I want to know what is the reason NEA giving.
Are our resources drying up? Has our demand for electricity increased at a greater rate than the increase in supply, if at all there has been any in the last 10 years? Can a 10% increase in demand annually have such drastic consequences? They say the Koshi flood and the decreased water level in Kulekhani has made things worse, but there were massive hours of load shedding before all this.
I really want to know what are the major roadblocks. Is it only investment? or are there other natural causes that we are not so aware of? Keeping management, governance and political intervention aside, is there anything that can be done in the near future? or is it still a wait and watch situation? Is global warming drying our water resources? or is everything purely political incompetence?
