Hi,

I am interested to know the ancestors of our past royal family. Through reading some historical journals, I came to know that our Shah dynasty came from India who were rajputs. They entered Nepal to escape prosecution from the Muslim invasion. Prior to having the Shah surname, they had different last name. Later on, the Shah surname was earned as an  honor from other rulers in India or some neighboring country. Me and my friend disagree on the origin of our royal family ancestry. He believes that our royal family are Farasi or Iraninas, which i totally disagree. I believe that they are Rajputs from India. I am not supporting India, here, but just came to know through reading..in Wikipedia..(Not a reliable source) Can anyone shed light on this topic, or provide some credible link .

I just love reading history and know only bits and pieces, but need some strong inputs from others, or the exact fact.

Thanks,

Cyrus,

it is true that they were rajputs of india but brother, another truth
is that aryan looking faces (all except newars, rais, limbus, kirats
and so on , i.e. people with mongol faces) also went to nepal from
india. now, if you have studied the history closely, you would have
known that indian settlement was started by aryans and dravidians who
traveled to india from iran (called euro-persia at that time). these
too migrated from egypt, where people from africa migrated.

it's a long story, but yes, we all are blacks, in our genes. then changed to middle easterns then indians then nepalese.

all mongol faced brothers and sisters in our country migrated directly
or indirectly from across the himalayas- tibet, china, burma and so on.

I just could not help jotting down my off topic feeling after reading my fellow writer going down the route of relegion.i just wonder why do people relate everything with religion. the topic of this thread is about ancestory of theroyal family, there is no need to bring relegion right now IMO. I remember a quote "relegion is poison". take it easy...

agree with newlynews - all wankers in the world, that's why the world feels so wanky sometimes

and wtf with some of you? why do you have to worry about religion all the time? FOOK all religions, these were created by humans to mark their territory to impose their supremacy.

bhikhaari bro,

Me not worried about religion. In fact I don't even believe in god. Just when you state something historical please also present your sources. How do you know Indians came from Iran? Is this your own analysis or is this based on some historical research?

Anyways Chairman Mao once said, "Religion is poison."

i can't cite sources as what i knew are from books that i read, but you could also find that in some anthropology, history websites i guess.

what i stated above have been proven..you can go to a public library and read the books published on trends of human evolution and migration. like i said before, you might be able to find these online too.

Let me share something here-

1st those who are saying all but rai, limbu, newars, ( Mangol origin) came from India. Then, also find these other caste came from -Mangolia, China, Burma. Read the history, Gurung came from Central China, and all these cast belongs " Tibeto-Burmese" origin. But now they have enlisted in " adhi basi-janajati". Further, you should understand the civilzation of Indian subcontinent. India, Nepal, pakistan, shrilanka, bangladesh belong to the same civilization-as known as vedic civilization.. Likewise, mangolian civilization was also taking shape. It is the trade that brought both these civilization together and nepal which situated between two civilization, therefore, has these ethnic group. SO THIS IS TRUELY A FALSE POLITICAL ARGUMENT WHO IS NATIVE/ETHNIC OR WHO IS  NOT!  ALL, INCLUDING BRAMIN, CHETTRI, RAJPUT, NEWARS, GURUNG ARE ETHNIC/NATIVE OR ADHIBASI.

Current  trend of including one caste as a adhibasi janajati will divide the country. And the most important matter is irrespective of where we came from, we all are nepali. and nepal belong to all EQUALLY!

coming back to king's origin, their acestor's were definately a rajput's, as many ill educated believe they are from muslim, just because their ancestor were " KANCHA KAHN" and MINCHA KAHN not Khan, " KAHN" means " BROTHER" and nothing else.  READ THE HISTROY!

And, let's say even they are from Muslim origin, DOES IT  matter???? Can you deny the contribution made by P N SHAH?

Nepal has become republic, secular, bro, I think deep down in your heart, you all are still rolyalist and hard core hindu.

To Kanchu's point, how is Bramhans and Chetris not native to Nepal like any other so called "Janajatis" ? I would really like to know.

I agree that this is nothing more than a divisive agenda. Sadly, the less edcuated and ignorant folks buy into it.

I'm not here to add details on the origin of the Shahs, just trying to make it more complex like a typical Nepali. It will be hard to trace the origin with pinpoint accuracy without historical artifacts and records. Some say they are Rajput, some say Iranian Muslim since they had Shah Kings too, some say they are mixed with kiratees. Whatever, it doe snot matter, they are all gone now.
Kanchu...Kahn means brother, where did you exactly get that from? It sounds more like "Kaan" like our ears...

to make point clear, we did not descend from monkeys...while yes, they are our closest brothers.

there was a common ancestor to us all - chimps, humans, monkeys, etc. but when the speciation bifurcated this ancestral species, we started evolving on our own and monkeys on their own and chimps on their own. it dates back to couple of hundred million years back.

Thanks for all your comments guys. Many made sensible comments and some were totally out of the context. I am talking about the history and not trying to cultivate segregation or hate here . Just read the posts and make contribution and not write crap and unnecessary details. Why do you have to go out of the main them of the question and jump into other out of topic issues? History is interesting and the question just came to my mind and felt like asking here.

Not yet satisfied with the posting. Hope , some intelligent comments will be made further.

Thanks,
