With the initiative of Girija Prasad ,  once a terrorist group (still a terrorist group for US) came to the mainstream and took part in election. 16000 lives were lost during last ten years.  People in nepal are still dying but number has fallen.

When Obama got nobel peace prize i wondered that is nobel peace prize for the big countries. I still cant see why obama got nobel prize. He just became president. The Afganistan is getting worse and worse all the time. Many british forces including many gurkha has died in recent times. Iraq is yet to recover. Isreal-palestine is still suffering. So I guess the decision is very premature.

First thing , prize is not awarded for the world scale. It could be anything.  An An sang su ki didn't get this award for world contribution. Gandhi is remembered for his effort in India.

Whatever you say , Obama is still commander in chief of two wars that are still fighting and killing the people. It is very easy to try to justify in retrospect what he have done. What a mockery on one hand his army are fighting and killing people and on the other hand he is taking the peace prize.

His nulcear whatever ......success is a nothing but a joke. Do you think  Ahamadinijad will bow down and stop nuclear testing. Or kim jong il has stopped anything.

I have supported obama during the presidency and still support him because he is the man with charimsa. But I just don't support him blindly.

Fact is he has done nothing to warrant him a peace prize. Well he is pulling out of iraq....pulling out of afganistan..............................oh good prachanda is making nepal swizerland.   Give him peace  award now. Give world cup to brazil for 2010 .......they are going to win the world cup.

I never liked King Gyanendra but at this moment I think he deserves peace prize more than Obama or Girija. Had he wished he might have opted for bloodshed before leaving the throne but he did not and acted according to the so called people's mandate from election. So, he is better messenger for peace than Obama or Girija !!! My two cents.

Of course Girija does need a peace prize. He was the most important person to bring the terrorists (Maoists) in mainstreaming politics. He deserves nobel prize. dude your only point for why obama is not good enough for the nobel prize is that hez commander of chief of US who is involved in war. But you are forgeting those war started way before he came to office and just by withdrawing the US forces wont solve anything. i mean you would be okay with him if he wasn't the president of US? you are neglecting all the things he has been doing or trying to do and just focusing on the war that started way before.

I think Obama's surprise win for noble peace prize is completely political. obama has done lots of things since he became president to promote global peace. you can read georgian_satellite comment on what are the things he tried to do or did. but the thing is he was nominated for this prize right after 12 days of his presidency. he didn't have anything on his resume when he was nominated.
