Newars are oppressed by Newars themselves. Lower caste groups are always demoralized by so called higher caste. Those self proclaimed higher caste are the ones who humiliate and demoralize the lower caste Newars.

As a matter of fact lower caste Newars are more demoralized by the higher caste Newars than any Bahun or Chhetri.

Higher castes are mainly: Shrestha, Joshi, Pradhan and all in this category.

Lower casts are: Sahi-nyah:, Napit: Nau:, Kapali: Joghi, Karanjit: Bhangra, Ranjitkar : Chipa, pode, chyamkhla, kau, jyapu, chitrakar, tamrakar

once newars get their own rajya everyhting will fall into place... which type of newar are you merojagir?

I am not making up the story. It is the fact existing now. I am in fact totally against such caste feelings. But the current politicians are fueling in this hatred feeling.

You have every right to express yours. But I am not using rights but portraying the bitter true facts.

We need to get rid off it.

people are actually integrated socially. if you compare10 years back and now, socially,  there has been lots of progress and all the Nepalese in Nepal from different social background have converged. well, there are always some exception in some part of the country. i see tremendous amount of inter caste marriage in Nepal, mostly in major cities of our country. and it is spreading across the entire country slowly. and there is no going back. i see this as a good sign. eventually, we will all be under one umbrella.

You are deviating from what our main discussion is. I appreciate your presentation on progress the Newars have made over the past 10 years. That's what every one of us wanted. We work hard to accelerate our progress regardless of where we belong to in terms of caste.

The issue here is that the declaration of Newar Republic state. Ethnic demarcation in any under developed countries will not yield any output in anyone's favor. There is very high potential that it may provoke some social ignition down the road. Such ignition may produce some form of catastrophic outcome. This is what I am scared with. Hence, my final word is that let there be progress in everyone's favor away from the ground of social/ethnical so called Newar Republic state.

And by the way, my caste is Khadgi. I don't know how you look at me and how important my cast is for you.

merojageer, you are repeating the same again. all these politicians are behind this and they are doing because they are power hungry. and they are declaring states as a fear tactics. remember, nepal ko flag change proposal by maoist. they did that because they were unhappy with other political group. now nobody talks about it. if political group find some kind of common ground, everything will be alright but i do fear for the worst if they don't.

but my point, is we, the common people of nepal are not divided anymore on social agneda but integrating  and btw, when i said we made progress in last 10 years, i didn't mean just Newars, i meant all nepali people.

This is the time to fight for their rights otherwise they will fall apart. Need to raise the voice.

Sorry, that is the culprit of hindu cast system. Imagine if you were a lower caste in Terai or Pahad and tell whether you would have been treated better by those people. I think in Newar, lower caste has better privilege than other pahade and madhise.
