Guys, I am currently working on OPT. My OPT expires on February 6. I have applied for OPT extension. But due to certain circumstances, I won't be receiving my OPT extension before February 6. So what happens in this case? Can I work?

Yes in my understanding. According to the employment authorization regulations at 8 CFR 274a.12(b)(6)(iv), which were part of the April 8 interim final rule, an F-1 student who has timely filed an application on Form I-765 for a 17-month STEM extension of his or her post completion OPT, and whose employment authorization document (Form I-766) has expired, is authorized to continue working while that application is pending, for a period not to exceed 180 days. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextchannel=68439c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextoid=ff791c491861a110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD

Yes you can continue to work. Had been through that situation. No issue at all. So don't worry
