The slogan has been "Hands up! Don't shoot". There was Zimmerman vs Treyvon Martin & now this is Wilson vs Mike Brown. I don't know what's the verdict will be in this case. But don't you think the Black community has done harm to themselves by all that looting and burning stuffs up? They say " hands up don't shoot" but how about "hands down don't loot"? They are absolutely profiled and prejudiced but they need to bring their act together and not let these events happen over again and again. Nobody will shoot you just because you're black not at least in today's world.

It was about time that the back communities rose up against the white cops brutalities. Desperate situations demand desperate acts. Read french revolution to understand why people take up arms and put their lives in-front when they have been marginalised unfairly.

As I have grown older, I might not have grown wiser but I certainly feel like I have gone less dumber. One thing I have learned is that in most instances of controversies, picking one side is never right.

The kid who was shot, was actually not a kid, but a 6'4" giant in a young man's body that had just "bullied" a shopkeeper and robbed him. Police didn't get to him because of this incident, but the incident at least speaks of the attitude of this young man. When the whole black nation rallies behind him, sometimes they should remind themselves that the reason they are getting prejudiced and targetted could be because of their own act. It's about time to go beyond the blame games and making slavery an excuse. If we can have a black president, why don't you think the attitude will change if there is some effort from the whole community? Instead of blaming everybody else, isn't it time to take a look at ourselves and see what we did wrong?

On the same token, I don't care how much you are threatened for your life, but until the man has you on his choke hold or the person is armed, you just shouldn't be shooting at the person. If you want to shoot, perhaps shoot at his knees or anywhere below hips. This is why I am a big proponent of police officers wearing a camera in their body.

Both sides should stop blaming each other and see what they can do to correct their own faults before they come out aggressively at the other party.

I agree with kiddo. Further not only blacks, mexicans are same too. these blacks and mexicans are like cockroaches that needs to be squashed. they are unethical subhuman mongloids with animalistic behavior. before they hurt us we need to enslave them. these border hoppers and monkeys are invading US by breeding like cockroaches, producing 5-10 children in households.

Hmm..thanks for agreeing, but don't you think your comments are getting a tad racy? I don't condemn the black communities, I just distaste those who always see fault on others and blame others for all their surrow; it is actually more prevalent in Nepali community than black. We have blamed our misery on our governments, leaders and everything else but ourselves. More about that later.

Those of you who think that its just racism and black have rights too , go and work in their area , deal with them everyday and you know their real face. you will fear for your life every second , with every black person out there, for a single dollar; either he is wearing suits or look like kid.

The police's main job is to protect the citizen not to kill them at the slightest chance. When dealing with unarmed perpetrators, it is never right for a police to shoot to kill. They can always shoot the leg or other parts of the body which does not result in death.

In this case also could have shot the kid in his legs. There is no reason why police should kill unarmed people when they can simply shoot them in the legs to neutralize any threat.

Rethink, just think one thing "you need to be alive to save other people". In a nation where gun can be bought on less than 100 dollar ,a nation where kids take gun to shoot his angry friend and a man in theater kills another audience for ringing phone , dont those policemen have fear of life? Couple of years ago in NYC a policeman was killed who was trying to stop robber without using weapon. Robber of course a black male shoot him on face. I have several tickets from police for driving case but still i dont hate them. I salute them for their service. They do what they have to do.

facebook I understand your logic but I am talking about the case where the perpetrator is visibly unarmed, or has their hands up in surrender whereby they would not pose any threat and they have surrendered to the police.

In these cases, there is really no reason to shoot to kill.

Just because guns can be bought by anyone do you think police should kill you when you have your hands up in a gesture of surrender, or when there is no reason to suspect you are carrying a gun?

He was 6'3" gaint so police might have been scared. Real story is not out yet. Remember what happened to Trayvon Martin case. Zimmerman was cleared out because he was just doing his job. Its going to be same over here, wait and watch.

In a nation, where buying guns is as easy as buying candies, what would one expect!;having a history of constant dogfight between the Whites and Blacks, the blaming-game seems like a never ending feud. These kinds of "accidents" shows the big picture of how people failed to shed the convictions they harbor for each other, which has been etched in deep recess of their mind, from the beginning.White cops vs black dudes,Israel vs Palestine,US vs North Korea...all in all, same kind of story we have been hearing from a long time which have already become mundane rather than some sort of "breaking news".Lets hope the white-folks in DC would come up with some new laws that will put a dead-end in this rampant use of bullets,by subsiding powers and rights of cops who are always keen to shoot and Obama must come up in the front at this scary hour and preach all his black-folks that there are many careers one can follow rather than just robbing and looting.

America created racism around the world by creating terrorist and supporting all kinds of groups. While it cannot solve its own racism history within the country, americans are giving speeches about how to remove racism around the world. मुखमा राम राम बगलीमा छुरा गर्न सिक्ने हो भने अमेरिकन संग सिक्ने हो

The situation has escalated from people protesting against the police brutality and killing of unarmed 18 old Mike Brown to a whole different level. It's become a class warfare, the battleground between haves and haves not. You can see the people's frustration that has been accumulated over the years of racial disparity and economic slavery.
I used to work just next block of ground zero of Mike Brown's protest until couple of years ago. Working at one of the Fortune 500 company was one thing but driving to work through Ferguson was a daily challenge. This place was a dirt, empty houses with no roofs, out of business places covered with ply boards, fences, closed schools; this place was like Afghanistan or Palestine after the war.
I have came to know that the company where I used to work is building a manufacturing plant in the same location. Imagine the years of planning that went through displacing people's houses nearby and acquiring their cheap land. There are couple of established companies in the same neighborhood and many more are attracted to build one. You would think, this will bring more business and tax revenue to the city. Yes, but none of the black people will be working at the high paying position. That will all go to White and privileged Ivy League grads and black people will be serving food in the cafeteria, cleaning bathrooms, mailman and cutting grass.
I think Black people are like the volcano that is about to erupt and the Tsunami following that. Right now young and majority of Black people are smoking their frustration with the weed; once they sober there will be another 18 years old shot dead by the police in their front yard, big corporation are planning to foreclose their house and new casinos plus strip clubs will be built..then it will be too late. If they want a place in the society, they need to fight for it; if they want their dignity they need to earn it; if they want equal respect they need to learn to respect and revolt.

@Ruben just a simple logic bro , are you white ? Are you by born millionaire ??
We people from different world came here somehow and working and studying as hell to make life better and earning some respect. And those AA people who were born here, have alot of opportunity instead are doing nothing ! Applying food stamps , robbing people. Not working !!
U want to change world , u need to start from urself.

All right, here is how we, Nepali, have to deal with black/white issue. We have many older generation of Nepali who went through the same phase and the cycle will continue knowing our Nepali people and our expectation. These are general facts and some are my analysis that I've accumulated over more than 17+ years of living in America.

The Introduction:

We come to this land of opportunity and the college forces us to learn about racism 101, good? We take everything for real and get furious about the history of America and utterly believe that whites are all racist and blacks are the victims even today.

The Facts:

1. African Americans have NOT been to Africa for more than 10 generation. They call 'white' and not European American, so why NOT just 'black'.
2. White European and American do more for the continent of Africa than blacks (infact they do nothing for Africa).
3. Blacks didn't bring a collective culture from Africa and the few they had are completely forgotten. Proof? Look at their festival, they have no tribal holidays or cultural festival. Kwanzaa is a fake holiday started by a black American leader during 'back to Africa' movement in those early days of civil right movement. Yes, they once thought they will go back to their motherland but soon realized that they cannot live the life there. So you don't hear those phrases anymore.
4.They suffer the most from fatherless family. It is very common among blacks to grow up without father. Black women will have multiple babies from multiple men, yet she will be the only one raising them all. Proof? Barack Obama is a byproduct of a fatherless child. Add that with the welfare system, a black woman will have as many kids as she can cause she will get more money from the government, yet no father. The sad part is that she cannot afford to educate any of them. Hence the sprawling unemployed, uneducated getto youth. Of course with no fathers to teach them moral and discipline. Do you think Obama would be the president if he was raised by a black father?
5. Since they didn't keep any of their ancestral culture, they lack commitment, drive and the faith that things will be better if they try and work harder, more common among ignorant and uneducated getto sections of blacks. This is just my observation.
6. Blacks are as racist as whites. If you disagree then you either have not lived in a black city or you are a bleeding heart liberal from Vermont (there is no blacks there and they learn everything from tv and books, no real experience).

The Reality:
Your first college friend will be a 'white' guy.
You will graduate with mostly 'white' students.
You first job and the boss will be 'white'.
Your coworker mostly will be 'white'.
Your hang around weekend buddies will be mostly 'white'.
You buy a house and the location you prefer is 'white', you neighbors are mostly 'white'.
You open a business and your first customer will be 'white', most of ALL of your customers are 'white'.
You start a company and start hiring and most of the qualified candidates are 'white'.

The Analysis:
Do you want to think blacks are still oppressed by whites in this day and age? Of course, there is racism everywhere in this world in many forms, no society is perfect. Do you want to buy what these liberal news media are selling? This is your choice.
I went from 'whites' are evil and blacks are 'saints' in those early days of arrival ----- to ----- 'whites' are ok and blacks are crazy ------to ------- there is some serious underlying issues with the blacks, its not just racism ------to ----- blacks are more racists these days and whites are 'far better' for me in my life.
The chances of this giant kid who robbed the store being a better person than this cop is very slim. And I have a strong feeling, this cop is telling the truth. Let us wait for the final results. Use your brains folks, not your heart and stop believing in everything written on facebook.
