would've bought if the price was reasonable.
I understand you have to bring it from Nepal (probably not declaring in custom and all), but $28 for 1 lbs of dry meat is a little too high, haina ra?

hello kiddo, thanx for your concern on price but i am telling you the true that i don't have margin more than $2. i am giving here sort of hints: in nepal per kg. rs.1500, shipping cost from nepal to here almost rs.1800(food products are really expensive to bring usa). airport charges per boxes separately. eBay charged me 10%, i have to ship from here to customer approximately $8 (check the usps prices) and paypal take some percent for the transaction. so please, you can calculate yourself, how much i would get profit. its new business and i just try to growup it. on the starting phase, i try to sale in cheaper cost as much as possible. thank you. at the last, i didn't mention the packaging and handling cost, labour cost, transportation cost and the time. hope that you guys will understand that.

I want to look like a white man, strong, muscular and healthy look. I don't want to eat Nepali food cause they have too much starch all the time like rice, potatoes. These are very unhealthy. Those beef jerky's, you never know if that's some Nepali human meats, I have heard in the news that Nepalese sacrifice babies in some rituals. Jahbless I don't know what you said, I don't understand Nepali, please write in English.

Per Kg: Rs 1,500...US dollar = 1500/105 = $14.30
Your product says just half lb, so 14.30/2.2 = $6.50

shipping cost from nepal to here almost rs.1800(food products are really expensive to bring usa).....I assume you do not ship 1 packet each time....I hope you ship in bulk...in that case the shipping cost is divided...I would not put the shipping cost more than $1

Shipping via regular mail does not cost you more than $3, ...if priority mail, it costs $5.50 (I assume you send via regular mail)

Overhead costs and profit margin = $5

Still total cost comes out to be around $15 to $18 (max)...Am I missing something...Speaking the truth, your product seems lot expensive...Please correct my understanding if I am wrong....

collegefootballrocks Bro,
I agree with 1st part
( Per Kg: Rs 1,500...US dollar = 1500/105 = $14.30
Your product says just half lb, so 14.30/2.2 = $6.50)

Shipping from Nepal costs around $(4-5) depending on weights, i would assume it to be around $5/kg and for 1/2 kg. it will be around $2.5.

My total comes to $(6.5+2.5) after round up plus 10% Ebay is around $ total comes to $1.
My total before shipping is $(9.-9.5)
Shipping charge should not be more that 5(expedite shipping)

9.5+5=14.5(Including shipping)

$28-14.5= 13.5.

Bottom line is I think this is way expensive. I wouldn't pay $28 for a 1/2 kg of dry meat.

Neplai Stuff Bro, not trying to be over smart here, I think this is way expensive.

Nepali Stuff.
I have been craving for Nepali sukuti for a while, so it's a good thing somebody is bring it here. I see Collegefootball's point and I see your point as well. It is cost intensive to bring these foods from Nepal and sell here.

I guess if my craving exceeds the $28 threshold, I'd buy it, for now I would pass. Meanwhile, look into reducing the cost with innovative ways.

hello again,
some of you guys interfere me with cost and its profit margin. actually i don't have to discuss here about my item cost and how i set the price for my items, also no one else do these kind of discussion but i am doing it because i want to make sure my customer doesn't extra more money than the items worth it. again i am going explain here how i set the cost based on usa, please read carefully, think and comment, some of you guys left the comment not in practical way, thats just a poor guess. and someone said me i am trying to get smart here but i m not. i just trying to clarify that i m not taking too much money from my customers and its 1000% guaranty. if i am a smart business person, i am not supposed discuss my internal decisions and transactions in a public forum. so, i am honest here and please, you guys also try to be honest and be fare. again, i am going break down my cost here, please, check below for the details :

  • dry meat per kg in nepal = Rs.1500
  • per kg shipping charge from nepal to here = Rs.1750 (it could be fluctuate, this is the average cost)
  • airport charge per cartoon = 700 (per cartoon 20kg)
  • so, half kg price = Rs.1642.5
  • from here to customer shipping = $5.5 (priority shipping, i can't ship on the standard or first class because it is more than 13ozs., so no other choice)
  • ebay listing fees= $0.30
  • ebay final fees= 10% of $28
  • paypal fees= 3% plus automatic charge $0.30
  • shipping labels/labels in packet
  • packing materials (tape, sticker, boxes, envelopes --some of usps printed boxes and envelopes are free but not all the items ship on these, most of the times we have to package with own materials)
  • labor cost, fuel, transportation (nepal and here)
so, please do calculate yourself. thank you.
note: if somebody found the better or cheaper way than mine, please, help me to reduce the price but currently i am not able to decrease the price of dry meat or sukuti. or if somebody have cheaper than mine, i am ready to buy. thank you all.

Nepali Stuff,

You do not need to be agressive here. You are a seller and we are customers and we have every rights to argue/bargain. Nobody said you are trying to be smart. Read carefully. Lamps Bro acknowledged that he himself is not trying to be smart, does not mean that you are trying to be smart.

First of all, half kg is not equal to 1 lb. Second, You mentioned Rs 1,750 per kg shipping cost from Nepal. I still assume bulk shipping costs us lot less. Again, do not take our words negatively. We speak what we see. It seems like shipping cost within the US is the major factor that is driving this higher cost.

I will certainly buy this product (and yes, I seriously want you to have some profit margin) when I get it for around $20. Till then, I will wait craving for it.

@nepalistuff bro, what u r trying to do is waste of time/money/energy in this day and age. Ever heard of carbon footprint? So why dont you produce it here? learn the recipe, buy high grade beef, and sell it ?

hello @collegefootballrocks,
thanx for your cool comment. first, i measuring based on kg not in lb. second, from nepal to here shipping for the meat products are separate than others category so this type of products shipping charges are more than double than other regular products (about $700per kg). and also you caught me right point because your assumption is right and i am selling in $20 for the local shipping only(because i don't have to pay for eBay, and usps shipping) . anyway thanx for your concern. have a nice day.
hello@bairaghi,
it is really a nice suggestion, and i wish to do in future. and you are right that currently it seems that i am wasting my times and money but hope to grow up gradually. thank you.
