India freezes arms sales to Nepal The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu Monday put an end to mounting speculation about New Delhi?s policy towards the new regime in Nepal. It announced that India strongly supports the ousted political parties and put its military assistance for the Royal Nepalese Army on hold till further assessment. However, India will continue its civil aid. The heavily-subsidised sale of arms, ammunition, helicopters and military hardware stands suspended. This is a setback for Nepal?s army that has been urging for continuation of Indian military assistance on the ground that the country is fighting Maoist terrorism, also a threat to India. India?s decision will be conveyed to the Nepalese authorities by the ambassador, Mr Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, who was called to Delhi last week for consultations. However, despite returning on Sunday, the envoy is yet to put in a request for audience with King Gyanendra. This is being regarded as intended to show India?s strong disapproval of the royal takeover. According to the message conveyed to the envoy by the Indian authorities, New Delhi continues to ?strongly support? Nepal?s parties, stands opposed to the 1 February move and would like the democratic process to be restored as soon as possible. As India sees it, the royal takeover will only strengthen the Maoist insurgency and weaken the monarchy. India has once again called for the immediate release of political leaders placed under detention or arrest.

It's time to come forward and speak the truth what NEPALI people really want out of INDIA..WHy should we always be coward and bow down to big bro???????? Looks like people are again day-dreaming that INDIA's helping hand will help establish law and order in the country..But hey, what's point of having stability when you lose the identity..???? If a majority of people want to give up sovereignity for the sake of peace and stability, then I SALUTE to these people for the last time.....>>>You GO AHEAD!!!!! I will stick to my own NEPAL till ...................????...........

ajsab: " If a majority of people want to give up sovereignity for the sake of peace and stability, then I SALUTE to these people for the last time....." >> Did you get that figure from the Sajha poll? "It's time to come forward and speak the truth what NEPALI people really want out of INDIA..WHy should we always be coward and bow down to big bro????????" >> If you think China will sour its (relatively) recent better relations with India over Nepal, I have two words for you: Dream On. And oh yeah, don't lose any sleep over it. Ain't gonna happen. And if that happens (by that 0.00001% freak chance), that will be the end of your dear identity. So who put our national identities in danger, again?

tired, yeah I am dreaming...butstill, my dream will lead to a better , independent nepal...and remember i still envision my nepal as the himalayan KINGDOM..so let the words speak themselves what i mean.... ..i know that time will heal all the wounds that we are having these days....the only question that will be asked will be >>>WHO led NEPAL to heal her wound??? ....and I proudly would say it's U, ME, and all nepalis..... ...just like GIRIJA said once, "yo jeet sabaiko ho, PANCHE ra RAJAko pani...and he got booed ....."..ohh that was already 15 years..huh...

Premcharo....remember there is a country called China.... Do you think China would not get involved if India invaded..... Reality is the King has backing of someone, that is why he has been so bold and that silent partner is breathing slowly to the tune of its own drum. All ministers that have been placed in power favor China than India.....so see what happens....India may have lost its small brother to even a larger relative...
