Who can be the morally cleanliest and politically wise leader of Nepal? I think Pashupati Shamser Ja Ba Ra can be the morally cleanliest and politically wise leader of Nepal. Do you think so? Does anybody have their pick and record.

i agree with you lalutpatey..ironically i'm not big fan of mandales..but he's always had his points across straightforward..even is against the dumbass decisions of the King.. also unlike girija and surya bhdr does not have a bad record of screwing up the country..very wise and much more outspoken the most of the dumb UML sheep or mandales like Lokendra B chand.. Also the fact that his wife is related to the Gwalior family of India, means that he has no eye on making money..plus his daughters are well settled by now...and his passion for politics is purely politics...The thing that desturbs me, he did have several chances before..either he does not have much luck or is not persistent enough...and also..i don't know for a fact whether Pashupati has done anything for the needy people of Nepal except those working in the field.. In conclusion, he's a good guy ..but not good enough to bring about the drastic changes in Nepal. Easy go lucky chamchass are no use..he's more like the YES MAN our late KIng Bire

lalupatey jyu, PSSJB Rana may be the politically wise leader but morally question. yes, compared to other leaders he is AMONG THE CLEAN ones. He is not corrupt (o: he has other source of income. But morally, he diverted all the SWISS AIDS to sindhupalchowk i.e. his constituency while he was in power during panchayat and later. now you can say that how is it morally wrong? he made sure that all the money was spent in those regions.. dolkha.. sindhupalchowk.. etc. even though donor agency wanted to focus somewhere else.

A well settled family man who's learned could be a good leader only he would consider living the life of his followers...so i'd still vote for Prachanda for having the courage to do so than most sissy communals like Pahupati...morally i'm right or wrong..will be sorted out in the time to come..whoever wins will be written in the golden pages of history

In Nepal to be a law making Politician and enterpreneur at the same time is very obvious. Mr. Clean Rana is one of them. He has Gas Company in Balaju. It is refilling plant. Not a real industry. More or less gas station. In States this is similar to FINA Gas. Mr. Rana brings the gas from India ( used to be Barauni) and refill the gas Bottles in Balaju. He brings the gas into Nepal paying very minimum duty 5% as the raw material for his Industry. But it is not a industry, it is a refilling plant. It does not produce anything. He buys the raw material and he refills the same raw material. Where is the production? Mr. Rana should not enjoy 5% Tax facility as he is not producing anything. Mr. Hari, his main right hand in Balaju Plant has much to say there. Because he needs his help in election in his hometown. Mr. Hari is more influential than Rana himself in his village.

MR. MR. MR. Pashupati Sumsher Jung Bahadur Rana has more than 80% of his wealth outside Nepal. Its difficult to imagine his vested interest will be in Nepal for the long term. His one of the daughters is married to an Indian and most of you know about the other one. His and Dr. Tulsi Giri's plight be the same. Another thing, PSJBR is renowned for helping his right and left hands exporting Tamang Girls from the villages of Sindhupalchowk to brothels of India. The episode where Kami Lama or Kancha Lama lifting women on helicopter from the remote areas of Sindhupalchowk under the gracious Shree Teen Maharaj himself. I think Roshan Karki- the spokeswomen for RPP will explain much better about CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN PSJBR. I think Man Mohan was the cleanest of all.

How about Prakash Chandra Lohani. I have not heard of his name being smeared with any scandals. He is an experienced politician, handled number of ministries in the past, Ph. D. from UCLA at the age of 24 (at that time, youngest person to ever get a PHD in the University's history), his work published by Univ. of Chicago. My two cents.

Bhadgaule, Prakash almost took a loan of $1b back then to use it for private interests. What are you talking about? The BBC rreported it, only then he retreated from the misadventure!

Even though in his political life, PSJB has stayed clean (I should say arguably clean considering Sardarsing's posting above,) he comes with a big baggage. He did not have to be doing the dirty work of scandals in his lifetime; his ancestors did it big time for him when the Rana's ripped off our country for over a century. One may argue, greed is never ending and he could have amassed more when he was in power, that he did not do which is a plus. The LP gas factory is not a big thing in terms of its worth ( it probably is a minuscule part of his total worth) and its success. It was a monopoly since the Panchayat Era, like star Beer, Shanti Ghee etc; success is guaranteed when you have a monopoly on a commodity every one needs.

If I have to choose between Prakash and Pashupati and that Pashupati 's hand was not clean as suggested above, I'd f.uck the $1b scandal and choose Prakash. If Pashupati did not have a hand in girl-trafficking, I'd choose Pashupati looking at how he is proceeding right now. Overall I choose Makune. I'll never choose Girija, Thapa, Deuba. Thapa is the biggest sucker of all these.
