Nepal?s envoy to US Shrestha warns NDYC president KOL Report KATHMANDU, July 14 - Royal Nepalese envoy to US, Kedar Bhakta Shrestha reportedly warned Ananda Bista, president of Nepalese Democratic Youth Council (NDYC) in the USA, for condemning the royal move of Feb.1. ?Finally, he warned me to stop all such activities,? said Bista in an e-mail to The Kathmandu Post, reported Post Thursday. Bista was warned after he presented a paper in Dallas recently condemning the King?s ?autocratic? rule in Nepal. Bista in his paper had said, ?Nowhere in the world does a king play the role of a prime minister in a constitutional monarchy as King Gyanendra has done in chairing the council of ministers.? Our Ambassador warned Mr. Ananda Bista at the function itself. I was present at that forum and what our Ambassador said was that it is not a good idea for an Organization to get involved in political issues. It was a good suggestion. What will we gain by protesting outside the White House ( or any other places in US)? Protest nai garnu cha bhane Nepal ma gayera gara na. This was one of the worst presentations I have ever been to. It was so monotonous and long and there was no interaction. He needs some vigirous speech training if he wants his audience to be interested in what he wants them to know.

If Mr Bista is an American citizen,I think he can file a lawsuit against ambassador for committing act of threat. Mr ambassador may have an immunity, but king will be in the grave trouble. Even if Mr Bista is not an american citizen, if he has such an email, he can still go to the court and FBI and lodge a protest. There are legal avenues. Ambassador Shrestha has clearly crossed the boundary and he should be aware of it. But may be he did so to please his master back home, and this news probably did more benefit to him than less. Who next? Nepe?

Mr Kedar Bhakta Shrestha is one of Nepal's most experienced diplomats. He has served in many places and is one of the few who actually has an IR degree. Having worked with him once, I don't believe that he "warned" Mr. Bista. He could have showed his dissatisfaction, or maybe had said something implying what he (Mr.Bista) is doing is not desirable, but I can't make myslef believe that H.E. actually "warned" Bista. Maybe Bista ji is overreacting.. you know, overreacting is our cultural trait! :-)

Yes, I too am surprised that KBS would that. Unless Bista produces some sort of letter or written warning from KBS, I, for one, would think that he's trying to set himself up as an American version of Gagan Thapa. Or perhaps, he's broadcasting a rather inflamed version of his interaction with KBS, to cast himself as a victim of some sort. I am also surprised that Kantipur would print a story like this WITHOUT apparently bothering to at least check with KBS as well. So much for "good" journalism! At least, Gagan, who was arrested and thrown into jail, REMAINS believable. oohi ashu

What is the qualification for becoming a nepal ambassador to US? 1- ability to visit department stores in the country of assignment and select/ purchase sari's for Gyanes family 2- ability to shoplifting, especially expensive medical books, for his/her children 3- Issue fake warning to Nepali democrats living in USA, after getting hints from Narayanhiti...... Yeah, you guys could add more good indicators that reflecting the competencies of Nepali ambassador to US..... Hulak Bro

Mr. Bista needs to be thrown into Royal Nepal Embassy Jail, then only his credentials will be proved. Its so sad that there are intellectual prostitutes in our society...

if the Bista dude thinks he is doing something for Nepali people why not go back to Nepal and do something constructive rather than staying illeagally in the U.S. Mr Bista enough with your cheap politics in U.S., go and start to clean the dishes that's what you are best for.

I personally know Mr.Ananda Bista, He is one of those people who would kiss you foot if he needs something from you and stab you from the back if he gets an opportunity. I think Mr.K.Shrestha made a valid point by saying if he is so dying to protest, he should go to Nepal and do it (if he really did say so). Political parties in Nepal are sort handed of people like mister Bista. And Mr. Bista's argument is "nowhere in the world does a king play the role of a prime minister in a constitutional monarchy as King Gyanendra has done in chairing the council of ministers", My point is?.. SO WHAT MR.Bista? If there is no single worthy person for a PM post, what can he do about that? And top of that....why do we always have to do, what other countries does? If it has never happened in other countries, let us be the first one to do it. We Nepalese have always enjoyed being the followers of others...be it a movies, music, fashion or Political agenda. Our political situation is very unique therefore it requires a unique solution. We can't just depend on theories that may have worked one time in the past. And most of all, we Nepalese lack the respect for others.. be it a king, PM, president, wife, friends, or ambassador. Eg.- Americans in time of crisis, everyone supports their president even those who didn't vote for him. That is what THE most diverse country in the world makes the most United country. All we know is to criticize others and make oneself look like a HERO. People if you want to be respected, start respecting others. Stupid Dumb a$$es!

Other things aside, the point I was trying to make in other threads actually involves Mr. Bista's presentation. I did not care about his contents. Why? He simply read from the text he prepared as if he is reading for a book reading program and was very monotonous. Was he successful in his delivery? May be with ambassador and definitely not with me. My attention span is not that long. Next time: Talk to the point. No lengthy details and reading.

I 2nd Zara. That's the real Bista. I am sure he is waiting for the day when is Mastah Girija comes back to power and he will take the next flight to Nepal. If this dude doesn't mind breaking the US rule (staying illeagally), I am sure he won't mind breaking many other rules in Nepal as well. I wish U.S. have some strict rules and regulations regarding illeagel immigrants. These people suit better for jailhouse.

There was some one on the left fourth row who was recording with a video. May be, he should review the tape and come out with the exact words of the Ambassador so that we can decide whether that was a real "chetawani" or "Dhamki". We will confer with Shakti Kapur whether that was chetawani or dhamki. This happened at the forum : Organizations in the US: Roles and challenges.

Another propoganda. Mr. Bista just trying to gain some publicity so that he isn't fogotten. What good has it done to anyone that a bunch of Nepalese protest against something going on in Nepal? All we Nepalese know is to protest. A protests against B, B protests against C, C protests against A. Strikes and breaking things is our logic to a solution. I have been reading about these problems for a long time now. I have never seen anyone give any good solution to the current problems of Nepal. If you noticed all of us yelled "chor neta haru" should be hanged or slained or brought to justice. The king takes over you call it undemocratic. What do you want? What will satisfy the elites of KTM? because to me it seems no one ever worries about the 75% of nepalese in villages who are really suffering from the diplomacy of the elites of KTM. No matter who comes, they will always be ignored. So lets get over with this bull of democracy. Go and ask what democracy is to these people. "Their answers, two meals a day and no threat to life". If you think it to be different, than either you belong to elites of KTM or haven't been to Nepal in a while. We are a failed democratic state and stop talking like westerners that democracy is the only solution to all problems "you guys would sound Hypocritical, sitting under luxury, getting a good education etc and telling what those 75% people should do." So next time you post please post a solution don't point fingers. Lets see what you western educated nepalese have to say for the solutions to us common Nepalese.

There you go again, one crazy gorkhay mother f**ker said "A crow took one of your ear" and rest of the gorkhay started chasing the crow or should I say, started chasing bullshit. When in the world these mother f**kers stop chasing these crow or bullshit which is created by some dumb @SS mother f**ker who decided to say something which may not have been true. Sometimes when I come to think of it, if we were Americans, we would be bombing left and right and our @SS would be sliced by muslims and north koreans. Why don't we mother f**kin think?
