:) John What does one do when one IS a dhoti and doesn't look like one? I have met too many like Bhai ... I tend to be partial to the diamonds in the rough (albeit a little oily) rather than the dazzle of pretty baubles.

Nice one John da !! liked it...well i don't think look is everything...girls just don't go for a look (at least in my case)..... by the way ya things become extremely difficult when you look like a dhoti, especially when one looks like John Ebrahim / Arjun Rampal :D

could you fast forward to middleage. A wider girth, a faded youth, a much abused charm .... and the same extra, unexplained money in the pockets........... just wondering. Its what i do best .. I am a sucker for a good plot. :)

Its so touchy j. in fact, i also look ahead at times and quite often it turns out that i see just nothing ahead of me. I think for a while, go like 'yeso garesi teso hunchha' but again these strings of 'yeso' and 'teso' are sometimes so much entangled that i simply give up. Then, i turn behind. yeh, in the way i came up to this point too, i see just no one. it has always been me, myself, and my own decisions. they say like its your mom and its your dad and its your that and so on, however, i am at a point where none of them have come-(and its true for everyone else) so they would have come to this point themselves rather than pushing me- right. so nobody makes you a great man or the opposite. its always you where you lead yourself to. But then the question pops up - ornaments are made of gold and silver while utensils are made of iron. So who am i? iron? steel? aluminium? etc. I know i will never find an answer to this, but still i keep on rolling this thing. Then i find someone like an 'ornament' or the one who is having a life and he is completely unaware of how or what he is. He just becomes himself quite unknowlingly. And then there begins the show- why the hell did i do that? look at that friend of mine-, look at that laddhu-, look at that fellow-, why am i making myself suffer like this-, and so on. so finally, i have decided to end up this book-to-transcript cycle of input and output with a single 'jack of none but a master of science'. phd- hell no. what really screws my thinking is why are you going after 3 'master of science's? and of how many have you made a 'jack' of yourself? just curious hai, thats why ni. keep rolling...

Wish you were here -- you brought my memories afresh from decades back!! Again, John Galt, a superb piece. It reads well. As far as the message you're trying to convey is concerned -- does it really have anything to do with a Dhoti look? Thanks.

I see the burning jealousy. Hey anyways its your bro. MBA aint that easy. Uni works you out real nice and good. With all the flirting your bro learned the soft skills which is very valuable while working with clients. It also develops confidence to go and aprroach anything you desires, something every book worm or a nerd always invy of of a outgoing person. Hey anyways its just a story. Good one thoouh. HEHEH Peace HF

thanks selroti, sristi, dadagiri, xena, ruina and baral, you all have a point, sristi - I have now understood that looks do not mean everything, I have a prettier wife now as compared to all other women I had been chasing all those years. Still wonder why she chose to marry me, maybe she thought I was still evolving to arjun rampal. ruina - nice to hear from you....how are you these days. highfly - it is merely an anecdote, there might be an ounce of jealousy, but it never lingered far enough. dada - you have a point here, but this is the word used by most of the people teenagers in Nepal. Nothing against them...and nothing against Indians either, should have put a suitable euphemism. baral - your compliments make me blush brother. And yes, i used to live in Pink Floyd, not as obsessed as bhai though and no this is not a negative connotation about "dhoti" looks. My apologies if it offended you guys by any means.

Saw it, read it, liked it. Don't know fact or fiction, but that is inconsenquential. Didn't get all the pop cultural reference, still enjoyed reading it. I am just so tired of reading Pro-maoist rant. Encore!

Ok, It might be little bit out of the topic: How can you tell who is nepali in the public places like mall, shopping places, park, or at the movies? I have been trying to locate few nepali in my area but never can find or recognize anyone? I even started to wear some t-shirt with name nepal, everest, annapurna I mean those thamel t-shirt so someone can tell that I am nepali. I really need some nepali friends in my area but it is just hard to find them. Sometimes I even follow some spanish - mexicans at the store just to listen if they were nepali!!! I even spend so much time at the dhoti's pasals incase some I will find some nepali but I could not. HOw do I find nepali in my area?? Help ME Please!!!

John, I just wonder how do you accumulate all of these literary inspirations!!! For Dalli Resham- well to be honest with you, and from my close-circuit observerance being a Nepali nomad in the States, I think, the color and the texture of skin of Nepali people are the most obvious way to differentiate your fellow country man (with some exceptions) in foreign land. I can smell the Nepali flavor from quite a distant- the look, the skin- there is this some coarse texture of our Nepali Daju Bhai and Didi Bahini. I am not trying to sound like derogatory, but that is the most first thing I notice on any Nepalese. Well, the rest, talking, dressing, attitude are the rest salient features, which to me is even more easy to distinguish them. Well, good luck with these few hints from "Humdrum"- perhaps it may help you, but not a boring advice, right??? HD
