Friends, Coming Friday's Pro-democracy Rally in NY is, in every sense, Diaspora's equivalent of "Citizen's Movement for Democracy and Peace" in Nepal. What is "Citizen's Movement for Democracy and Peace" ? It is people's saying, "Enough is enough". It's saying, "Enough with King's insuppressible greed for power, enough with political parties' impotency, enough with Maoists' abuse of legitimate political cause to promote anachronistic ideology and violence, and enough with the freaking eternal quagmire they are in." The most important of all, perhaps, it is also saying, "Enough with our own cynicism, apathy and passiveness". Let's take initiative on our own to let ourselves, political powers and the whole world know what we want and how we want, once for all. Let's speak up. That's what "Citizen's movement for democracy and peace" is all about. And damn. It's working. It's already showing its affects everywhere. Common people, through their participation and display to the leaders, poets and artists kind of love and respect never seen before, and the movement, through it's determination to spread it throughout the country no matter what, has already established itself as an ad hoc political leadership until political parties reform enough to reclaim people's trust and thereby popular political leadership to the movement for Loktantra. Let's show up at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, NY on this Friday to let ourselves and the whole world know our longing for democracy and peace and to make a small but glorious history of how we took time to show our respect and solidarity to activists, professionals, poets, artists and common people rising Nepal ko basti basti baata, gaaun gaaun baata. See you all who are close enough to make it to Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, NYC, 12:00 noon, Friday 16th September 2005. Nepe - http://www.nyrally.org/ - http://samudaya.org/dissent/ Hand of a poet, who probably made a world history by making people loving to buy tickets to listen to his revolutionary poems in Kathmandu !

I would like to share here a recent ghazal by Dhirendra Premarshi which I think qualifies to be an anthem for democratic transformation of Nepal. May be I should recite this ghazal at the rally.

If you people are real Nepal lover then I suggest you rally organisers to add some more slogans apart from your original slogans as their main targetted personality will not be in NY. - Protest against Indian intervention in internal affairs of Nepal. Protesting against RAW to stay away from Nepal affairs. - Protesting to block India to become Security Council member as they have been most hostile never to all South Asian nations. - Protest against Bhutan to return their refugees from Nepal. - Protest against Maoist by demanding them to show their real commitment by lay down their weapons and join mainstream political movement. Maoist to stop expoliting in the name of Cease Fire. - Protest against all corrupt leaders to nationalize their properties. - Protest against politically motivated students organization to not to spoil the future of millions of student of Nepal. - Protest against various international organizations, particularly human right organizations, not to make developing countries like Nepal a secure place to secure their jobs and dollars by exaggerating the reports. -Protest against those NRN who instead of doing something for Nepal just demanding more facilities and criticizing for the sake of doing so.

In an attempt to write forcefully and effectively, people are often tempted to display their vocabularies to impress rather than express. I guess Nepe likes to use "big words" to try to impress his readers. Inevitably, this effort to impress the reader often leads to a problem with diction. "...enough with Maoists' abuse of legitimate political cause to promote anachronistic ideology and violence." Whateva that means. It's "polysyllabic meaninglessness." Most persuasive words in English are very simple:you, now, guarantee, results, money, easy, love, health, save, free, discovery, and proven, according to Robin White, a Yale scholar. I found this quote by Nancy Sommers very befitting, "I was the kind of student who loved words, words out of context, words that swirled around inside my mouth, words like exacerbate, undulating, lugubrious, and zeugma...I would try to write zeugmas whenever I could, exacerbating, my already lugubrious prose."

Lal Salam Nepe, When educated fool like you are running the show, the red state dream of Maoshits are pretty close. You took a hike from the old thread cause you aint got any answers. Now you started this one. All I am saying is have strong action plan. Same old ranting. The philosopher without any ground substance. A rebel without a cause. "Jeremy" of a Pear Jam. ANti_G bro borrowed your term. Peace

Freaking Typos. Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" Here is the lyrics: At home, drawing pictures of mountain tops With him on top lemin yellow sun, arms raised in a v And the dead lay in pools of maroon below Daddy didn?t give attention Oh, to the fact that mommy didn?t care King jeremy the wicked...oh, ruled his world... Jeremy spoke in class today... (2x) Clearly I remember pickin? on the boy Seemed a harmless little fuc* Ooh, but we unleashed a lion... Gnashed his teeth and bit the recess lady?s breast... How can I forget? And he hit me with a surprise left My jaw left hurtin?...ooh, dropped wide open Just like the day...oh, like the day I heard Daddy didn?t give affection, no... And the boy was something that mommy wouldn?t wear King jeremy the wicked...oh, ruled his world Jeremy spoke in class today... (3x) Woo... (14x) Try to forget this...try to forget this... Try to erase this...try to erase this... ]from the blackboard... Jeremy spoke in class today... (2x) Jeremy spoke in, spoke in... (2x) Jeremy spoke in class today... Woo... (29x) Woooooohhh...spoke in, spoke in... Woooooohhh...uh huh, uh huh... Pearl Jam
