. there is never a time to disband a 'democratic forum' democray dosent stop when the revolution ends and by my reckoning, even the revolution is not over yet there is still a danger of things spiralling out of control and even if this is the fag-end of the storm, we would do well to remember that earthquakes generate aftershocks. we need to remain vigilant

Humanbeing always does mistake, but in it gives hard lesson to learn. GPK and other leaders did mistake, but later on came with Nepali janata and request with them that they will fight for people's rights, real democracy, no more mistake. If they are really bad, they could leave us Nepali janata and go to shake hand with mandle or King. They were participate for each democracy movement. It could be, coz they had lake of democratic exercise, and wrong advisers to lead this situation. But they did scarify their life for the people's power. MKN went jail instead of taking option of having minister or P. minister, similarly GPK is the #1 leader has been giving strong warning to the Gyane, why didn't those leaders didn't take that chance. Ramchandra were in Jail, and urged to abolish the Monarchy. I think there will be real leader who go with Janata ko AWAS,,,,,,,,, it is why they were star with their demands. It gives the exist, it seems like that there will be Republic Nepal. no corruption at all, and administration will run in democratic way.........

The day democracy died..... You might think the day was in 2017 or 2036 or Magh 19 or Asoj 18, no those were the days when democracy was sent to detention. Yesterday the day democracy got freed once again from Autocratic palace got killed by SPA's decision. Poor democracy could not even live long to clebrate her freedom, she had dreamt with her sons and daughters to establish better prosporous democratic republic of nepal. But 7 idiots who she always thought of her sons killed her on her day of freedom. Yes I know you guys might be blame me for panicing a lot, or making a big fuss out of small thing. But I am not what message are SPA trying to send my electing unanimously a person who is most controversial, who is being investigated for corruption as PM. More than that who is autocrat himself and is trying to implement autocratic Koirala rule on NC party. Yedi hami haru yasto byakti lai PM banayera desh ko unnati huncha ra pragati tarfa lamkancha bhan than chaun bhane, tyo kebal euta jhuto sapana ho ra yesle Nepal ama lai pheri tehi andhakar ko khaldo ma dhakelnecha.. Reasons people gave why Girija should be PM 1) He stood against king alone, he most vocalist republican - No he is not, he did not go into Deuba-UML govt because he did not get PM offer else he would have gone. He is not most vocal republican, he was reluctant to make Republic state as his party policy. He even tried to side line most vocal republicans like gagan thapa and nar hari 2) It is not person it road map that matter get over it - No even person matters. First thing by making Girija PM you are already closing his under investigation corruption file. If its not person its road map that matters, then chose some one less controversial, with no current indictment or charges or investigations. There are leaders like Madav Nepal, Nar Hari Acharya, Narayan Man Bijhuche, Sasank Koirala, Mahesh Acharya, KP Oli, Mannindra Rijal 3) He is 85 years old, he fought for democracy whole life - Oh ya what is the use of making 85 year old person a PM. Look for new generation leader with new thinking. If Girija really wants to be remembered as true leader of democracy and wants to write his name in Nepal's history in golden letter, he should give up this PM post. Should pass it on to new leader. Else he will be know as nothing but a "hwaldar" in Nepal's history. Why do we regards Ganesh Man Singh as "Father of Democracy"? Because he fought his whole life for democracy and never showed any hunger for power. His selfless interest was always to bring democracy in Nepal and see prosporous democratic Nepal. His goal was not to bring democracy and be PM and make corrupt Nepal. I know most of the loktantrik fighters feel the same about Girija being PM, but are not expressing it because - They it is too early to comment - They are afraid raising this controversy might put democracy on stake again But by not pointing at our first wrong step that is leading us back to same old chakrabiun, we are putting democracy at risk. If we fought for what was wrong in Autrocratic Monarchy, then we should point and fight for what is wrong step in Democratic SPA rule too I hope I am wrong to freak out, but I am afraid I am not

Nepal Democracy Forum (nepaldemocracy google group) with 150+ members in it is a diverse group of people. It's almost as diverse and as chaotic as Sajha in terms of postings. The only difference is that people think twice before writing. So it is both good and bad place for discussions. In terms of activism for democracy, I think it's still relevant. We still have a common cause to keep vigilance to make sure that our all too familiar politicians do not screw the chance gotten/left for making "FOOL-fledged democracy" to what the people's movement showed they desire. Interesting coincident. Today, we received this message in Nepal Democracy Forum. 12 seats for diaspora in Nepal's parliament: ----- Original Message ----- From: [withheld] To: nepaldemocracy@googlegroups.com Sent: Tuesday, April 25, 2006 5:59 PM Subject: [ND] What's in it for the diaspora.....time to think out of the box We knew what we had to do against oppressors in Nepal.., Petition, Protest and Participate? Diaspora infact were the vanguard from 2007 to 1990 to present... But, as soon as the national desired outcome was achieved we were quietly marginalized and became simply welcoming agents to corrupt visiting dignitaries who for the most part wasted our time (most recent example being Deupa). In the age of globalization diaspora can be a single defining factor, if given proper opportunity and channel to invest and share their experiences abroad and lift it out of poverty. Here I am even reminded of reverse immigration of Indian and Chinese populations from the US. Aren't all revolution fought to determine who is going to be representing their voice? Nepalese in Nepal exactly did that? But what about me and us. Who will represent our voice in Nepal. It took 10 years and big time ass kissing just to have a passport duration extend from 5 to 10 years or other cursory changes. My Proposal: It is of utmost importance that when we draft a new constituion we give voice to dispora as well. How about adding 5 seats in parliment to dispora from South Asia which house over 3 million diaspora. Of course they have to be vigorously contested. 3 seats from North America - so that it gives chance for many qualifed people from here to represent our interest namely republic state, human rights agenda and perenial access of cabinet level person in Washington DC. 2 seats to Europe and 1 for Asia Pacific and 1 for Gulf to help the labor. This is going to cost the Nepalese society pretty much nothing but for the long term political stability of Nepal this would be a visionary step, one that can be replicated by other nations as well. These individuals would always champion human rights and fight against corruption as they would be independent of Nepalese society. We can always count on this group as well. Besides granting suffrage to the diaspora in itself is rewarding for the nation and what better way to say thank you than to allow your own representative. These are mere proposals. Devil lies in the details. But I'm sure we can reach consensus in this issue. I request our intellects and politician to thoroughly debate the pros and cons of this matter and raise it to the next level or higher up to seriously consider making this a reality So today I prospose that it is time for diaspora to have 2nd round of revolution to have our voices heard and not become mere welcomes or worthless politicians if you are interested in having further conversation or jointly writing a paper with me then please feel free to contact me at ...... Thanks ......

Nepe wrote: "Nepal Democracy Forum (nepaldemocracy google group) with 150+ members in it is a diverse group of people. It's almost as diverse and as chaotic as Sajha in terms of postings." Right. That is why, the uber-blogger Paramendra Bhagat was thrown out of your 'diverse' group -- in a true Nepali-paraa ko democratic style -- for committing no crime except, well, that of ruffling the feathers of a few of your fellow-members with his energetic, if occasionally jarringly unpleasant, postings. The lesson the rest of us are to draw from the PB episode is that in a Nepali group committed to discussions about democracy, there is NO room for unpleasantness. And that is why, I too was denied a chance to take part in a discussion about my own article, for what it was worth. And Nepe, there was NOTHING you could do -- except -- in a communist-style refer to your Politburo ko discussions and give a shrug. Mind you, these are NOT complaints or anything. Just putting the facts in order so that the other side of the story, however small, stays on public record in the TRUE spirit of Democracy, with a capital d. On another note, saving democracy from autocrats is the easy part. Saving democracy from self-described ''democratic people' is always the hard part. oohi ashu

The proposal of so called "democrat" is absolutely ludicrous. The braggert has the chutzpah to claim that the Nepali diaspora(especially the ones residing in the US) being the "vanguard" of "the people's movement" since 1990. Where in the world do you see special quota allocated for non-resident folks for a legislature body? PKB episode clearly bespeaks the kind of "democracy" that is tolerated by Nepe and his comrades-in-arms. They don't want anybody to rock the boat. "It's my way or the highway, folks", Nepe Maharaj.
