HOR declares Nepal “untouchability free†country In yet another major announcement, the reinstated House of Representatives on Sunday unanimously endorsed a proposal to declare Nepal a country “free of untouchability and all kinds of discrimination.†The legal and constitutional status of the proposal, however, remains unclear. Moving a proposal of “urgent public importance,†a lawmaker of the CPN (UML), Parshuram Neghi Gurung, called on so-called dalit community—that constitutes 16 percent of the country’s 27 million population—in all processes of making new constitution and ending all sorts of discriminatory policies and practices including so-called untouchability. The proposal calls for mobilization of special economic programme for education, health and employment for dalits and those under the absolute poverty line to their status. The constitution of the kingdom of Nepal 1990 prohibits all types of discrimination against citizens on the basis of caste, gender or religion. But activists said a number of discriminatory provisions and laws were still in practice. Addressing the House session on Sunday, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Narendra Bikram Nemwang said untouchability was a social crime and that the government would introduce a new bill soon to make necessary amendments in the existing Act. Earlier, the House of Representatives has already declared Nepal a secular state and asked the government to formulate laws so as to issue citizenship certificated to children in the name of their mother. Earlier, the certificate could be issued in the name of father only.

Whoever declared this proposition should show on National TV being eating from the same plate with a dalit. The dalit needs to be clean of course like taking shower before coming to the show.

All this untouchability stuff is crap. Let's say there is a guy who believes in untouchability. By some chance he gets seduced by a dalit woman. The guy gets really horny and then the dalit woman says hey FYI I am a dalit woman. Now the question is. What is he going to do?

untouchability free nation affetcs these too: 1. caste based untouchability- where 3000 years old India tradition was imposed by the early rulers of nepal, namely Jayasthiti Malla in his 'Manav Nyayashastra', Ram Shah in his "Chabbis Thiti', Surendra Bikram Shah's 'Muluki AIn 1910 BS'. This Muluki Ain is the main instrument that evolved and deeprooted untouchability in Nepal so much that the roots have become poison now. There were sections like 'jaat ghataune ko mahal', . The same Muluki Ain also had 'Hagne Padhne ko Mahal". Seriously. 2. gender untouchability-where women are discriminated during their first mensturation and on every menstuartion cucle 3. religious untouchability-where 'only hindus' are allowed in pashupati contarary to the fact that hindus have easy access to churches, mosques and buddhist shrines 4. Economic Untuchability: Where the poor 'have nots' do not have access to the national resources and often oppressed by the 'haves' as well as the state mechanism.

santoshgiri, is a good reader. he goes into the facts but doesn't go into the causes of those facts. so, well, I won't refute any of the facts posted by him. i invite him to go into the books that describe the causes of these facts. small petty rhetorics like those will serve no purpose here. SPAM's propaganda includes the above 4 points!

whats wrong with the woman here? Is it a crime for her to be born in a XYZ surname category? By the way it takes two to tango!!! Clear out your brains and accept the truth and the reality. We all are humans. Look into the facts and read some history as well as anthropology. You will be surprised to find that, the so-called Dalits were the original inhabitants of Nepal or the Dravidians , all other were invaders from Asian origin-the Aryans (originally from Iran). 3000 years old histiry shows the invaders took control over most of Nothern India and some Nepal's principalities. The religion of the Aryans at that time was Sindhu as they were from Sindh civilization. the Sindhu term in a course of time changed as 'Hindu'. The Hindu Religion at that time was also known as Brahma religion. The original inhabitants of the southasian continent, or the Dravidiand were worshippers of the nature.

the topic is "untouchability free country" and the rhetorics associated. we know our religions here very well...and I know it better than you do!...so stop teachins us all that. we can go to the internet and copy paste here...you don't have to do that for us. so let's get back to what bhusan said at 1:25. no rhetorics and stupid proclamations work.

Felicity don't jump into conclusions too early. You read me wrong. I wouldn't want to share my food with someone who hasn't taken a shower in a month may it be a brahman, chettri or a dalit. It doesn't matter what your JAAT is as long as you're clean.

Felicity don't bark back on this topic...no more! ChaturVarna is a system which the British termed as Caste Sytem. Now, since you don't know a bit about the history, I hope you will not talk on this anymore in your life (or learn the history and geography of this system first). I hate people talking about a thing when they have no clues about a topic. Now, bhusan asked didn't ask the dalits to clean up and come on tv. He asked the People who declared the system today to come on TV and eat with the Dalits on TV. He was making the fun of these fag ministers becasue they bark rhetorics but they won't mingle with the Dalits themseleves because at times some Dalits may be in an unclean state. First read and then talk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bhushan... but why only Dalit???? need to take shower...whoever claims need to take a shower first...coz....basically there is exactly the equal chance of dalit disagreeing to eat with that socalled proclaimer...right? memyself.....i am aware of chaturvarna in literary meaning...but what exactly in depth of theat system.... it was a satire. and by the way...we r not british' slave...r we? And about barking...... what exactly r u implying? by th eway...bhushan's posting is : "whoever declared this proposition should show on National TV being eating from the same plate with a dalit. The dalit needs to be clean of course like taking shower before coming to the show. "

Felicity don't be stupid. The minister is not an untouchable and he just made proclaimation that dalits are not untouchables anymore. So he should show the world that he has no problem in eating from the same plate as the dalit. I added that the dalit should take s shower just because in general you wouldn't want to eat with someone who smells bad or just is not clean. I used dalit as untouchables because that's the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of untouchables. I bet sarki is also untouchable. well I should say 'was' cos now they are not untouchables. By the way if you are a dalit sorry for using that example.
