Recently we have been enjoying Nepalese Channels Online. Well honey moon period is over and they are requesting subscription from tomorrow. One of the sites enepalnews.com have put their rate as $25 a month.

Wow is that affordable to Nepalese? I am wondering why they put such a hefty price tag ? Well 100 channels on Dish network on TV with all movies and sports is just 29.99. What are these guys thinking? Become millionaires overnight? Well I wont be able to afford it, I dont think any body other than People earnign $$ can afford this..

Have your say

It's Just Demand and Supply. There are not many nepalese in US , so they cant go as cheap as hindi channels, so they gotta make the numbers.

That's the reason why we don't see many successful Nepali's abroad. They want to become millionaires overnight. If it was on TV i wouldn't mind the price. but on computer? that's too much

$25 is a little too pricey, but, to the comment about "not very many Nepalese in the US", you have to realize that it's for Nepalese elsewhere also.

I believe its the overall $$$ that counts. Selling 100 (for eg) membership for $25 and 1000 members with $2.5 results in the same earnings. And Bandwidth and others are not a big factor if they are considering huge volumes. Plus most of the Hindi Channels can be watched live for free. I am sure some smart Sajhaite will figure out a way to leech these channels to other Sajhaites.

Even when it was free, I stopped watching these nepalese TV channels flooded most of the time with Indian commercials (translated to nepali language).. bullhs*t nepales channels. Identity crisis. Just money money money.

It doesnt worth more than 10 bucks. The TV program schedule doesnt match for nepalese in US.

sonoma, you are right. I didn't even think about timing. Unless they delay the broadcast and show us time-matching programs, it would not be worth at all. I don't want to pay $$$ to see morning shows from Nepal that is all about religion and astrology and something else like that.

well to be honest how many of us watched nepali tv regularly even when it was free. So considering that $25 is a no no . it should come down to at most $10.

It is not worth the price for sure. All you find is the same news and pop songs every hour. They should improve the quality of the programs if they want us to pay 25$. I thought it would be 10$ but 25 is a bit too much .

Oh yes, there was a thread sometime ago about kids in the US not being able to talk in Nepali, well they should hear some of the VJs on Nepali Channels talk Nepali in a very Kuire accent.

Though it was a real treat to be able to watch so many nepali tv live....more so for my parents. I concur with all of you here on the price tag. It's not about affordability but about worthiness. As most of you have pointed out $25 a month to watch nepali tv on the computer (even if you were to connect it to your tv, not a whole lot different), sub par programming quality, news overdose every other minute or every other channel, ridiculously pathetic indian commericals dubbed in nepali, music videos (need i say more??), and on top of all this the time difference with not being able to watch primetime programming. I know these points have nothing to do with the folks who brought the channels live online but nevertheless they come to us as salesmen and they should be fully aware of their product and it's worth to the customers.

For the right price (and i think under $10 a month is more than fair), I would have definitely supported this venture by other fellow Nepalis but at $25, I'd feel like I am supporting a charitable organization with zero charity work. Anyways, to cut my long crap short.....there are plenty of free nepali and indian programs / movies available online to keep us busy and then there is BFBS gurkha radio for our live nepali news and entertainment craving.

P.S. It is also worth while to mention today's "onliners psychology" when it comes to paid subscription: if the fee is minimal they rather pay it and feel ethical about it. However if they feel the fee isn't worth it, they will do whatever means it takes to get the pirated version of that service and feel a sense of pride in doing so because they didn't give in to something they didn't consider was worth the price they needed to pay. So, these folks who have set the price at $25 a month are going to be extremely vulnerable to the leechers.

Goru ko aachi..bull sh*t. I won't even pay 25 for sattelite. We are talking here watching in computer screen. It's just not practical, not worth it. Not many people are watching even when it was free. What are they thinking?
