Pictures and headlines that make Nepal proud. what a sight.
pride of nepal afterall!

Gurkha paramilitary police patroled the Suntec City Covention Hall where the IMF-World Bank Meetings was held, Wednesday Sept. 13, 2006 in Singapore. The city-state is mobilizing its entire police force and its reserve police national service numbering over 10,000 to provide 24-hour security for the meetings, which are expected to gather 16,000 delegates and visitors from all around the world over the week.
With Gurkhas being seen patrolling around the IMF- World Bank Meeting Venue the expectation of demonstration by the protestors was not seen or heard. Before the meeting large number of people had planned to protest as usual as at every IMF-World Bank Meeting.
The word Gurkha, the distinguish felt hat and the mere sight of Khukri was enough to deter the protestors away.

Recently I visited Singapore .Stayed there for a week and for 3 days ,I didnt see a bit of rubbish in the street .Thats may be because of i had stayed in business district of Orchard .Then I realised why it is called the cleanest city in the world .I only got to see dirts on the streets once i visited Little India ...and thats where foreign workers from bangladesh ,india ,sri lanka and nepal were seen the most .

Once I was shopping around 7 pm in orchard , I saw 6 Nepali gurkhas with heavy machine guns patrolling the city .Everyone in the street stopped to have a closer look at them .I had few conversations with local people and most seem to be afraid of Gurkhas .Did you guys know SINGAPORE is the only country in the world where Nepalese dont need visit visa ? may be they are repaying us for the service our gukha brothers are doing .

Conversation with a Cab Driver :

After observing some of the fish tanks in Geylang I
took a cab .Cab driver was indian .
Me : "Kaise ho bhaiyya ??
Driver : "Pardon ,did you say something ?'
Me:"Angrezi Kaaheko Bolte ho ?Hindi Nahin Samajhte ho kaa ?
(I said this in Shakti Kapoor tone )
Driver :"Sorry I am from south india and I only speak in English and Taamil "
Me :"Only 2 ?? I speak in 6 languages "
Driver : "Wooooow"
Me : "Thats nothing I think in 10 languages "
Driver : "Laughs ha ha ha ha . So where are you from ?
Me : "Hong Kong "
Driver :' Wow you are from HK ? great city .So you speak cantonese .
Me : "Yes I do .But I am not chinese .Ethnically I am Nepalese and my dad was
Gurkha .I was born in HK when my Dad was serving during British Regime .
I have spent part of my childhood in Nepal but mostly lived in HK.
Driver : "Oh so you are HK Bhanja ,I have lots of Singaporean bhanja friends who were
born and raised in Singapore ,very friendly just like you "." So whats it like to be
Hk citizen ?"
Me :"Despite being born and bred ,I dont feel like HK citizen .I feel like pendulum of a
clock ?"
Driver : "I dint understand you ."
Me: " Pendulum sways to and fro from left to right and right to left but it belongs to neither left nor right .Just like that I neither feel 100% nepalese nor do I feel 100%
Hongkongese .In Nepal when I tried to apply for government Job I was told that I was not even born in Nepal ,How can I be nepalese and In HK we are classified as Nepalese and not purely as Hong Konger despite being born and speaking local dialect.Thats why I feel like a pendulum of a clock .there are about 50,0000 gurkhali pendulums in HK .

Driver :" Thats too bad .Thats discrimination .I didnt know HK government is that bad "
Me : "Sinagpore governenment is even worse "
Driver : "Why So ..?( he was more attentive )
Me : " We HK bhanjas have atleast been given Citizenship despite being discriminatory .
We have been given freedom to live ,study ,and work in HK .We have been given passport ( I flashed my new HK passport to him ).What has your governement given to S'pore bhanjas ?As soon as his pops gets retired you guys pack and ship them back to where they came from.Isnt that even more discriminatory ?
{ I wanted to say "chahido ko bhaado ,nachahida ko thaado " in english but couldn't .}

to be continued ..................

(conversation with immigration officer to be followed

Frankly, we are known to the world by 3 things,
first - the natural wonder - highest mountain mt. everest
second - land where the apostle of peace was born and brought up - gautama the buddha
third - the sheer cavarly and the bravest of the brave, and is a FACT of all our lives - The Gurkha Regiment!

of course we should all be proud of it!

Can we hire them back from the british for couple of years to take care of the rising shi* back home????? can somebody negotiate on this???
