one can't generalise all americans as being dumbasses. I think there are smart ones and dumb ones in every culture/country. I have known some really smart americans as well. I think the show collected a bunch of dumb people for there sheer reason of amusement.

This is the problem with realty show, they cut/ edit and show only what they want to show. I bet there were a lot of people who were interviewed and gave right answer. Don't believe the hype of realty shows or edited TV sections.

Having said that there is a truth to the fact that americans are unaware of most part of the world. If you see network news (not the cable), you will see a grandma running after her kitty but won't see the big volcano in Japan (would be at the end of the cast). USA is a self sustained nation (atleast that's what they believe) and thus are careless about the world.

Of course! more than half of Americans are stupid; look at who they re-elected as their president. And almost all of them are arrogant. Otherwise, they would not be going around flipping their flags everywhere possible, saying they are best, their country is the best and everything in their country is the best.

I am sure they are showing the footages of only the stupid people. I bet for every 1 ignorant person, there are 9 knowledgeable ones, to some degree. Most Americans would probably not know who John Howard is (let's face it, Australia does not really matter much to the Americans), but they sure would be able to rattle off the names of few countries that start with U. I would not feel too smug about how smart we are just by watching this comic clip.
