Hi,

I just thought of sharing this to you guys, hope you will take it positively.

I got married in Nepal year 2005. Before we could start to live our life , so many problems arose that i didnot find anything good to live with this marriage. Therefore after six months of time, i asked for divorce with my wife and her family they said, they will never agree. they dont want divorce.

Something i found in Nepal news.com which is similar to my life is:

"Divorce does not always cause harm to social order. Sometimes it becomes
the only way out for married couples who find it difficult to give
continuity to their relationship and seek a way-out"

Now its almost 2 years of time that they are not ready for divorce, and our situation has got more worst. now there's no way that we could be together again but they are forcing and insiting to keep this relation.

They are saying i can go to the court and file for divorce, but to do that i have to go to Village District Office, and than to the court whicy may take 3 or 4 years of time!

Is this the way people want to live in their life, i am totally shocked, if my wife is ready we can get divorce may be in one day. now the problem is she is not ready which means if i follow the process will take upto 5 years.

What do u think guys?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

In Nepalese Society ' Divorce ' is very a very tough choice for a women. She gets degraded, has limited options after that and is painful for the family side of women especially. You obviously have not been raised well to value nepalese culture, understand marriage and divorce.
What led you to marry vs just making a girlfriend that you would have to divorce her in six months. I think you are a selfish rotten type of person. You used the priviledge of men in Nepalese society to marry a women then hurt her.

Divorce is an option but in six months ?- crap.

nepali_hero from what it appears you weren't mature enough to get married. Marriage comes with LOTS of complications. God! When you can't get along with your own sibling , who was born and raised in the same family and environment as you, all the time how do you expect to just click with the person you marry? EVERYONE has problems of adjustment in the beginning of marriage. Quitting is not the only option, specially in a society like ours. From what you wrote it doesn't seem like you love your wife very much, why the hell did you get into a marriage if you weren't open to make compromises? Just to ruin her life? I don't feel sorry for you, but I can feel for your wife. Living with an immature, selfish man like you for the last year and so much have been very difficult for her. It looks like you are not man enough to even give this marriage a try, if not for you atleast for your wife. Get a life, and may be grow up a little bit in the process.

Do yourself a favor , change your nick - you are far from a Nepali Hero. You couldn't even keep a nepali women, how can you handle other women.

Just to let you know , As a Nepali man , you can have a loving wife and a whole another wild world. Don't miss it man, Being a Nepali guy is a power and priviledge enjoy it until it lasts.

Just to add , these days Nepalese guys have become weak and c.c and are unalbe to enjyo what has been bestowed on them by their ancestors.

Know what you have before you loose it.

Why don't you guys see a marriage counsular and see if you can still make this marriage work. Divorce should be the last option and especially in Nepal it is very hard for the girl and their families. But after trying all, you still do not feel as you two can make this work, file for divorce. If it takes 4-5 years, that's okay.

But your first priority should be to save the marriage.

anyway, don't listen to Duke. he has a special relationship with Bigballer.

To be eligible for a divorce under laws of Nepal, you and your wife should be living separately for at least 3 years; in order to file for a divorce without consent.
With consent, you both may file the petition anytime from anywhere.
For wife, she can file divorce any time she wants.
There are some requirements of the law for eligibility for divorce:
1. marriage without consent
2. forceful marriage
3. fraud marriage
4. marriage with false information about the bride or groom
5. sexual inability
6. impotency
7. disabled and not informed prior to marriage

aznshawty
Nepal is not an individualistic society - where two people do whatever they want , especially in marriage. Marriage is much more than dating and making children. It has legal, economical, social, religious and status issues - in most societies.

I am sorry to be the one who is telling you this. What happened to Nepali parenting ?
