As we all know about Pokhara but Many of u dont no the Beni Bazaar only3 hour far from Pokhara.
Beni Bazar a small town in western hilly region of Nepal. really a charming place which is situated in between two rivers. Two rivers meet at the junction so it is named as Beni It is the head quarter of Myagdi District. It is the main gateway to reach Mustang and Tibet
In short time there is great change with the advance road in bazaar going to connecting to Mustang and dhorpatan within a year and Famous the Dhaulagiri Himalayan range is situated in northen part of the district with a great smile.
After the peace restore in Nepal than many peoples come there to visite in Beni From beni it tooks 5 hour to go Nangi where free Internet facility available but there in beni Internet is used by telephone not by cable and three website are lunching by that as first web potol of Dhaulagiri. because of this site many peoples who are outside the country views there own city.As that small city there is everything available.
This is for u all who dont no the beni Myagdi.if u wants to know more than look at www.cyberbeni.com than u get real beni after the new Nepal than i will back with a new face.

Hi
Thanks man. what a lovely place!
Ya i have got a chance to visit Myagdi last year. the place is simply the best.I have been there for a hydropower project.
We walked for 2 days to visit area in Mustang at Kaligandaki river from Beni. We visited place like-Tatopani, Ratopani, Ghansa etc.
It was wonderful experience.

First of all thanks to Hariji for starting the thread. It reminded me of my fourth visit to the district, and the first one to Beni only 3 months ago. I was making a short trek from Nayapul to Ghodepani, Tatopani, and Tiplyang. It was my first time following the Kali Gandaki beyond Ghar Khola. Passing through Ratopani and the beautiful waterfall at Mohabhir, I arrived Tiplyang in a little over two hours after leaving Tatopani. I then took a bumpy jeep ride to Galeswor passing through Beg Khola and Rakhu Baisari. After that, I crossed the suspension bridge over the crystal clear Raghughat Khola, and took a taxi to Beni. That taxi must have been the most poorly maintained vehicle I have ever been on. It was missing the side mirrors as well as the rear view mirror in addition to all the knobs to roll the windows.

As Beni became visible in a distance, I got chills remembering reading about the Maoist attack 3 years ago. The road within the town was paved and I did not see any government office on the way and thus no sign of destruction. The heavily fortified police office at the intersection at the other end of town where the taxi ride ended was the only government office I came across.

I unfortunately did not get to spend much time in Beni. I had to catch a bus to Pokhara. Since I had some time before the bus left and there were not any appealing places to eat at the Parbat (and bus station) side, I crossed the Kali Gandaki back to Beni and had a plate of delicious momos at a restaurant run by a Thakali lady.

The road to Maldhunga (and the bus to Pokhara) was hellish to say the least (and a different story that I may share later). For now, let me bid farewell singing

Thanx for the photo. It really reminded me about the beni and sorroundings. That photo was taken from Mallaj or Salyan(Dhairing). But if you give a view from the same point you can show Dhaulagiri in the top and beni bazaar in the bottom.
If you are currently near to beni. How about the new bridge under construction? When will they complete. I was there one week ago before leaving Nepal.

Parbatya, I passed through Beni last March. The bridge was still under construction. I saw it from the suspension bridge visible on the above picture, and did not appear to be that close to completion. Guessing from your nickname, are you from Parbat?

Chipledhunga,
As you are from your name. and you can guess.
I am remembering that after a month there will be 100s of Mustange apple 'doko's in both side of suspension bridge. I think they will start at kerb of RCC bridge next time.
Government had allocated 3 crores for Maldhunga-Beni Road last F/Y but nobody knows where the money is going. A local club is active for its maintenance.

Beni is not only the district HQ of Myadi but also the entreport to the regions up north along Kaligandaki river (Tatopani, Ghasa, Dana, Tipliang, Larjung, and Jomson) and to the west along Mygdi river (Babayachour, Sasardhara, Darbang and uphill to Sikha). Given its favorable geographical location, it is probably the biggest town in the region - I think it is bigger than Baglung Bazaar, the HQ of Baglung district, 4 hours hike/1 hour drive along the dirt road to the south-east.

Was in Beni for the 1st time in 1988 and then for the 2nd time 15 years later. Obviously, I saw lot of changes - the town was bigger, there were motor vehicles esp trucks, and of course the ubiquitous phones and internet. Despite the romatic lyrics "Beni ko Bazaara", I didn't find Beni particularly "beautiful" or “romantic” i.e. in the classic sense. There was no sights of Dhaulagiri or Annapurna, unlike Tatopani and any other villages up north. Afterall, it is more a trading/tranfer post than a tourist haunt.

Parbatya, I sure agree with your point on the Maldhunga road. I was just hoping that the bus would not plunge into the Kali Gandaki. After finally touching the paved road at Maldhunga, I jokingly asked a Belgian trekker whether he enjoyed the trek or the bus ride better. His reply was "you should have asked me which one was more dangerous." A fellow Nepali passenger added that it was the "most expensive road in South Asia" given the Rs 70 fare for 14 km bus ride.

Thuli, yes I am still very very mad at you. Ke garchau aba??

Afoole ta bhitrai gaera darshan garieko thiyo Galeshowr ko

Ani what a contrast between the Kali Gandaki and Raghughat? The latter is so clear (rocks clearly visible) while the former is true to its' name.
