Richa's performance could not satisfy the judges as usual except Alisha who thinks she is a rocking singer. All the judges realised her voice is still not matured for a playback singer. Bhartiya Janta also agreed with the judges and they voted her out.

The competition is cutthroat now. Tension was in the air. Faces were reflecting fear and anticipation. Will they make it? Or not? The ‘Indian Idol’ gala round began with some flawless performances. But strangely some of the best singers couldn’t deliver their best. The judges were nearly at war. Their opinions differed. Their words clashed. While Javed kept on backing Anu Maliik, Alisha was left all alone to fight for herself. Udit was the smartest of the lot. He simply refused to open his mouth.

Amazing. This is all reality TV. Judges fight to make the programme intersting. They differ in opinions on purpose. These are all scripted and making fool of general public. Some body is always blowing on their earpiece from another microphone about how to react. As a media person and someone who works in television, I know all these NATAKs made by judge and participants.

What is geneuine though is their singing and they all are great singers. But all other things are created to keep public intersted be it Big brother , indian idol, american idol, Sa re ga ma , or any other Reality shows.

And I hope prasant wins Indian Idol.

i dont totally agree that the judges are acting there based on scripts. i have sometimes seen true feelings (about agreeing and disagreeing) coming out of judges faces.

but i may be wrong, this is just my opinion

Sunima. Its not out of scipted. But they are always contolled from the control room . Trust me. Of course if somebody sings flawless they will say great. but if there is any blip in somebody's singing the control room will direct who will disagree. And it is the fact.

What is genuine though is the public vote and the quality of singing. Apart from that its all upto judge and participants on how to make programme interesting. They always keep changing rules. They throw out a players, and then bring them back on public votes. These are all part of making programme interesting. Sometime judges fight among themselves and leave the programme.

If the judges thought her voice was childish, they shouldn't have selected her at all. But they did, and then bashed her at every episodes after that.
And i think Indian Idol should be more than just a search for a playback singer. If India is just going to get an average playback singer through a nation wide contest, then Indian Idol is just a hype. I think the search should be for an exception talent in the field of music. It isnt necessary ttat he/she be a playback singer.
It take it as a shame that the search is for just another Udit or Sonu Nigam.

CrystalCracker is 100% right. If they were just looking for a playback singer they shouldn't have named it Indian Idol. Even if Richa's voice was childish, it could be suitable for singing pop or other genres. These people don't realize that there is a music world outside the movie industry too.
