www.palpaonline.com

I read full story on the www.palpaonline.com. This is an artical from a guy having " Negative thought". He blamed everybody but still did not show a single soln to the Problem.
He is happy when Doctor/Enginners not in Nepal.. Never thought How to prevent it. I bet,if he is given a chance to come in US, he will be here in Second :) and you can feel that when you read his story.
Overall, I would Grade, though, it is my personal view, You agree/disagree

I disagree with Mr.Aali Jasto, the auther of that essay, originally published in "Himal" khabarpatrica,is Mr.C.K Lal.As far as i know he is an engineer and makes good living in nepal. If he wants to come USA ,of any other country fir that matter ,he would't have any problem getting visa.
The points he makes is great, the so called educated youth of capital ktm, think India sucks ,yet be proud when prashant tamang ( well,an indian citizen) ,wins idol but hates fellow nepali from Terai. That is complete hipocracy.......... C K Lal is making strong point ,so if u di=on't want to live and change nepal dont F..k..g just bullshit abt it and blame only to netas after drinking 4 budwiser in u r creepy apartment with u r homeys after work in "Indian Resturant".ok

Aalu Jasto:
I think CK Lal is a very respected Journalist in Nepal who is known for his writing. I agree with most of his thinking in the article and i really respect him. Being an Engineer and having worked in different capacity, i am sure he has had various opportunity to come abroad but he is one of those journalists who has work to prove for himself and who live by his principles.
I so agree with his sentiment that Nepal can do without so called educated ones - who are opportunist but cannot do without the hardworking people who are forced to go abroad to feed the family. So True...
I wish people would respect the respectable people in Nepal and not critisize everyone just because you do not agree with it.

thanks Sheetalb and gadha,
I was not aware who is the writer .. But Still I dont like the article and It is my personal view.
He blamed everybody and did not show a soln to the problem .. I agree, he is in Nepal and doing his best
but
He is frustrated now .. U can feel ... I still think .. He may be here in USA within couple of years ..
His writing style is " totally negative" . there are many positive things that people are coming to US .. going to India ..
I again bet, if he does not want to come to US.. He will send his son or dougher foreign country ...
I am not blaming him .. he is a respected guy .. but blaming people is easy .. than showing a soln.
I love my country ..I send money from here as much as I can and I will return back to Nepal when I think, I can help nepal Better than staying here in USA...
For the timebeing .. I am helping Nepal from here better than staying in Nepal .. and that is truth .. at least for me ..

I dont believe the part of US is true at all.............well it is true that Nepalese do work at the Indian restaurants but sorry not all as dishwashers........because of the good coommunication and friendlyness of Nepalese they are waiters more and some even chefs.........the other point is that nepalese are clever people they Use the Indians to get their Green Cards.....I have not seen a single Nepalese who continued worh=king for an Indian after he has gotton what he came here to get GREEN CARD...........There are tons of Nepalese who have Corporate Jobs, Bank , realestate, law offices, coffeeshops, fastfoods, Malls, I know many who have their own Restaurants....with indian foods and Indians working for them.....I know plenty who have their own businesses...like myself....and not to be rude or anything ..I do have indian employees....because they do make good sales people...and are cheaper than anyone else..........I have seen Nepalese who have their own software companies and are mad rich....Multi millionaires.................and many of them work as electrician, truck drivers, cab drivers, train conductors, construction, ETC ETC..........for many the restaurant is the stepping stone to achieve the american dream...............I dont understand why people thing that you are a dishwasher once you are in America..??????

I do not think he is talking about the successful lot. He has written many articles on labor migration and the need for it as Nepalese.
He is talking about thousands of Nepali who love to come to US for the sake and has no ambition than leaving Nepal. He is not talking about the hardworking lot. And there are thousands of those kind as well for whom Nepal is no more important than 'a place which is hopeless and forever to live'.
I have met many Nepalis who have married Americans for Green Card and work on some menial jobs now and if someone talk about Nepal, then only talk about the negative aspects. They act as if they have been dropped in US and never Knew Nepal or what Nepalis is all about. He is talking about those people and i agree, there is no need for those people to ever go back to Nepal and even be called a Nepali.
And again there are plenty of people here who have doen hard work and have made all Nepalis proud.

Well, Mr. CK Lal might be a very respected journalist in Nepal, but that doesn't mean we have to clap on every pose he strikes. He made some valid points but I don't really agree with everything he said in the above paragraph. I totally agree with Deep than CK Lal. One cannot ignore the contribution made by people living in the foreign countries to the economy of Nepal. In fact, as far as my memory serves me right, the contribution made my the people living in the foreign countries was the biggest source of income for Nepal last year. I know brain-drain and migration of workforce is bad for the country, but at this moment it is doing better for the country than high-voltage words of likes of Mr. CK Lal. I also think people like Mr. CK Lal should stop feeding inferiority complex in the minds of Nepali people. No work is inferior, unless it has to do with killing someone or earning money by the means of ill intentions. If only they had promoted the notion of "work is work" and no work is inferior to the people of Nepal, the outcome could have been different. People are seven seas away, away from everyone they know, working their ass off to make the ends meet and yet, they have to be the victim of narrow-mind. Imagine, what they could have said if you were doing the same work in Nepal.

Well said Kalankisthan,
Mr. CK Lal might be a highly regarded Nepalese columnist, but his generalization of all Nepalese living and working abroad is unfounded. Heck, who in the world don’t want to stay close to their loved ones and do something for the betterment of themselves and the country they love so much? I bet 80% of the Nepalese who are abroad are willing to go back to Nepal and 95% of those who are trying to flee the country will change their mind the other way around, provided they get 10% of the opportunities they are getting abroad.
The social, economical and most importantly, political situation in Nepal is so disastrous that personally I don’t think staying in Nepal will do any good to anyone including Mr. Lal.

But well, don't you rather wash dish in a foreign land than take up a government or private jobs in Nepal? It is easy to disagree to other's writing but what he has written is about the Nepali mentality of seeing everything good in foreign land but seeing nothing good in own land.
Like he said, there are people who are washing dishes (he is talking about the educated people wasting their talents in my point of view rather than making fun of occupation) in a foreign land but there are foreigners working in Nepal in various profession and our country is losing all the brain they have. There is no point in discussing whose fault it is but it is the sad truth of today.
We can find few noble examples of students returning to Nepal after studying in US or other major countries and doing something on theit own. I think CK Lal is trying to generate that feeling among Nepalis. There are always two ways of looking at things and me being a big fan of CK Lal's writing, i agree to many things he has said. Obviously, people who are living in US and always seeking excuses to remain in this country(This includes me) and showing that I love Nepal in everything else would want to argue otherwise.

I agree and disagree with CK LAL. It depends on the environment and your ability to strugggle for existence anywhere in the world. I think there are majority of people who love their country and at the same time wanna be safe economically and culturally. I also want to do something in my country. But, what and when? It is difficult to reflect what we really want sometimes. Anyway, the article is very much idealistic but hard to follow in real life.

I'm in agreement with most of the people here, doesn't matter who the writer is, it does matter how he or she has done interpretation of the issue. I have few questions here and these are my personal experiences. A guy
with a Bachelors Degree from TU Nepal in 2002 with 3.5 GPA ( according to WES).
working in of course good organization but didnt get paid enough to fullfill the desires of his family ( these desires are just basic need), cuz the parents were spending their life in the wood cottage, with grass roof.
When applied for job, of course govt. job, couldn't get it because of not having the signature of ministers or leaders.
couldn't get invovled in politics to make goot relationship with politicians because of bad economic condition of family, and had to work for shcool tution even while pursuing high school education. ( so there is no way any politician could have written recomendation letter.)
These are the few basic issue, of most of Nepali youth in rural part. In my case I can say whole villagers. The question rises here, what you should do in this siutation, if get chance to come to US, or any other developed country who will feed atleast your family. Now compare the article from perspective and give me any good reasons to agree with this great writer. Lets face it, and be honest. Rather than being jobless with masters degree, I would love to wash the dishes and earn some green money to put some green vegitables in my family's mouth. When hunger strikes the philosphy can't take place.
Anyway this is my personal view, I don't want to offend anyone with my comments, sorry if I already did.
God Bless Nepal
