I think the seven party acted hastily in declaring republic and over threw monarchy without thinking several consequences. They should have to think that just like Maoist; royalist is still a big force in Nepal. Royalist will try to agitate and there will be more violence for sure. They absolutely didn't care about people's opinion. I still think that vast number of Nepali people wants monarchy. I think one of the main problem the country will face is lack of patriotism in Nepali people. Patriotism in its citizen is key for a nation to prosper, and I don't think the current corrupted leaders will be able to win the heart of Nepali citizen, especially if their path to the power is filled with blood of innocent Nepali people. I still think monarchy has the symbolic power of unifying the country and developing patriotism in people. I don't want my kids to read in their history lessons about Maoist leaders, and corrupted Girija as national heroes and the age old shah dynasty that established Nepal as an independent nation in this globe, as the biggest villain of modern Nepal.

I like King but not Gyanendra. Nepal is good with king, someone like Birendra but this Gyane is ruinning the nation as all political parties are doing the same. Bastard king and bastard politicians.

If Birendra was still alive Yes from my side but somebody like Gyanendra and his son Paras no pls......

Where is people right to choose??????? Party does not have that right to decide in present situation. It should be through a democratic way.

I do not care king stays or goes but the process in corrupted, out rights is taken away by not elected party.

Guys, I like Birendra too, but hes DEAD. We don't want prachanda and Girija to be the king cause they will sell the country to India or China. So Gyane though we all don't like him is the only alternative. Paras is a big no for sure.

As far as I recall....King Birendra was a good King but not a good ruler........he let the situation get from bad to worse in his rule...........He didnt say or do a thing when corruption was at its worst in Nepal hence giving birth to Maoists.......As for King gyanendra........He sacked all the leaders the curropt ones to try and bring peace to the country..........thats when two sore enemies joined hands( maoists and the SPA).....the new gang of terrorist and master mind curropt leaders made the situation so bad that the king was lagging behind making him look like a dick. Every time he tried to do something...the maoist and the leaders intensified the situation and made sure there was more death and destruction that would blame the king................I dont recall King Birendra going to all these small maoist infected villages to comfort people.........King Gyanendra showed his support, love  and bravery for the people by visiting all these places where he could have easily been assasinated...............you cant stand straight in a boat in rough waters.

 the politicians destroyed the country for more than a decade and made it worse when the maoist started killing innocent nepali people........thats when King Gyanengra stepped in ..........how can we expect a next day miracle when we allowed the maoists and the political curropts more than a decade to ruin the country and we didnt give the king two years to straighten it out??????????......now how can that be fair??? and with the heavy conspiracy moves by the maoists and the new spa to spoil any improvement from the kings side, how do we judge the king for not trying???? Didnt he try????? only to be intentionally be hampered by the sacked politicians. the king is a ruler not a politician......and dirty politics can overturn anything. I know that people blame King Gyanendra for his brothers demise.....well If he was so Full of power hunger to rule why did he give it up sooooooo easily. I believe he had the army and the armed police behind him awaiting orders.......he could have easily ordered a marshall law and dictated....like in Burma. But his last speech was..."please stop the killing of innocent people....if my stepping down brings peace to the country than I will step down for the peoples welfare........please stop this bloodshed "     now that didnt sound like a power hungry King.......now had I killed my entire family for the sake of power and had made the ultimate sacrifice, aprice so high...........I dont think Id give a crap for others life..........now thats just IF i had done the unthinkable to achieve the throne...........As for Paras.......as a young teen........how many of us were unruly, parent offending, party animal, freind loving, rebels?????? have you grown out of it???? I have....now do I want to be judged by every bad thing I did as a teenager..........????? Do you.....think about it.

As far as the kingdom stands...............I believe it is the only ONLY solution for unity in our country.....even just a ceremonial king.

i think it doesn't matter either way.

the only thing it changed is the head of the state. otherwise even when there was a king, the person responsible to direct the nation towards prosperity was prime-minister. the king overtook only coz of so many failed attempts to solve the national problems and instability in the development process. if the prime-minister can resolve all these issues then there is no need 4 king to bother.

anyway, removing the king i think we removed one bulk of the inactive organization.

bulk of the inactive organization ...................was at least somewhat working pre 1990. Development is at a halt since there SPAM warlords took power.

It is nothing but empowering Maoist and their ego, at this moment removing king is not going to solve the problem, the problem is the corrupt politicians.

Our rights are revoked, they are misutilized the power. Why Maoist does not participate in General Assembly election??? He is not benefiting and sifted their fault toward King.

The main problem MAOEST and madhise's movement. If we solve these two then we will have peace and live as a Nepali.

As Iraqi peoples saying, we did not have many  problem in past but  only single threat of Saddam Husain, similarly we had only one problem in past kingship. Now we have tons and the problem makers are ruling us.

Since these political parties took over........Nepal has indeed become an example to the world of what not to do with democracy. Yet we are stuck with the blame game which the politicians have mastered and manipulated into innocent regular Nepalese citizen.........poor, uneducated or barely, unsatisfied, and extremely angry Nepalese people. Read the news ......Nc blaming the maoists, communists blaming everyone else, and everyoneelse blaming the King.........LOL. what a joke we have become to the rest of the world.......and Girija just sold  Nepal to India....in bits..........slowly all of it. i find it funny, when people think King Birendra is a better king than KG. KG is a businessman, and foremost, he thinks of economy. KB was too corrupted, so corrupted that he can beat - Govinda Raj Joshi or Chirajivi Wagle. he didn't care for what was happening or what was going to happen. he simply smoked his cigar with red label and enjoyed $$ flowing into his accounts. and that was only reason for the birth of maoists who manipulated the KB stricken people of rukum and surroundings, since he took over the throne in the 70's. KG only tried to do what his father tried to do - Keep control of the bureaucracy so that corruption doesn't exist among the elected leaders. Because we all know and want to believe that elected officials should not be corrupted.

regarding republic - yes the parliament has no authority whatsoever to declare the country republic, and fool us that the CA election shall endorse it. Now, if you look closely how the CA is going to be formed. election in the constituents, then  via proportional system, then, some appoointments by the cabinet (240-335-26). this is done to ensure that the majority is guaranteed between the 3 main parties (NC, UML and Maoists), so that republic is inevitable.

even still, i would accept the new development and the republic. but federal republic - this is non-sense. how can a country almost the size of alabama, can be federated. how are these people planning to federate nepal. should they go by ethnicity, nepal will have to be divided into more than 30 different states. now, if you go by geography, we gonna have to have the terai, the pahad and the himal - which i believe in either case will only intensify the already divided people by ethnicity and their location. the limbus want their own limbuwan in the east of koshi river. then, what are the rais gonna do. and many newars who were displaced in that region by the ranas. the madhesis want their own independence -  lmao.

nepal will not survive a republic - forget federal republic, because no cow, buddha or mt everest is going to unite such a diverse population. a central powerful leadership is the only way to sustain the sovereignty, which is non-existent in current situtation. the day is not far, my friend when we have to cry out to our neighbors to take over, just to get over with crisises that we have endured for a long long time.

my solution: if everyone really really dislike KG, then, enforce abdication by both KG and Paras (they don't have much choice left anyways), then install Hridayaindra as new KIng in ceremonial role, just like sweden and norway. perform the election, and let people (CA) decide on the new constitution. maoist must accept the new constitution. resolve the armed conflict by unifying all the armies of nepal - jtmm etc.

and if the rest of the country find no future in a country with Shah's, then republic it is. but, think before you make it a federal republic. the country is too tiny - why don't you so easily understand this?
