Dahal, Carter to be conferred peace awards
Dr Dilli Raman Regmi Foundation announced to award Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' with a national peace prize and former US president Jimmy Carter with the international peace prize.
According to the foundation, the peace award has been conferred to Prachanda for his contribution in restoration of peace in the country, establishment of federal democratic republic of Nepal and bringing into reality the long awaited hope for election to constituent assembly.
Similarly, the foundation said the international peace award will be conferred to former US president Jimmy Carter for his support and contribution in Nepal's peace process through the Carter Center he heads.
The peace awards contain a cash purse of Rs 100,000 and certificate of honour.

I am exceptionally astonished by this news. The founder of illegal armed force, who is responsible of butchery 13000 Nepali People, should not be given any peace prize. I do accept his flexibility after 2006 to come to the peace process. At the same time we have to realize that why he compromised with government for peace coz he did not see any possibility to win the battle. From his side he did the settlement with government and compelled to come to peace process. The person who is also directing an illegal criminal group (YCL) which is terrorizing whole country in present context is not eligible for any peace prize.
If he will be given the Prize, the prize will become meaningless, contemptuous and worthless.

The foundation prolly figured conferring the Peace award to Prachande is the only way to disarm the Maoists.  A very smart move if that's the intention!

It's too early to confer on Mr. Dahal an award that has the word "peace" in its name. Most of the people still feel that his so called People's War that claimed more than 15000 lives was an necessary war in the first place. (Though the maos have been elected by the people for change, I still do not believe that most people would think the war was necessary.) Even after more than two years of the end of their war, his cadres are still threatening and killing innocent people. His future deeds may prove him elligible for some award, but this one is like a joke.
Anyways, no wonder, in Nepal, worshiping (even in a most ridiculous way) those in power is a part of our culture. Who would not like to felicitate the royals during the Panchayat rule?? We need not feel surprised to find more such prizes being awarded to the Maoist leaders in the days to come.

What the fck. If Prachanda shoots someone and then take him/her to hospital, would Prachanda get a medal for saving him/her? Yes if the hospital likes to suck the balls of Prachanda like this Dr Regmi the mother fcking Foundation.

Interesting thread... when I clicked the thread.. a pop-up comes saying "PRACHANDA MURDABAD". Smart idea. Who did that?
Last time San almost banned me coz when I did copy paste in the trhead.. he says a script somehow made into the thread and therefore when someone clicked it, it redirected to yahoo.com mail.
Anyways.. I wanna reaffirm: PRACHANDA MURDABAD

Dilli Raman Regmi Library and all his earthly belongings belongs to Education Ministry. Dilli Raman Regmi has nothing to do with this announcement as he passed away in 2001. The problem lies with the political appointees - the present Chairman was a UML appointee and now he has switched his alliance to the Maoists so I guess he (the Chairman Dr. Bishnuhari Nepal) wants to appease the Maoists.

डिल्लीरमण रेग्मी प्रतिष्ठानले यस वर्षो अन्तर्रर्ााट्रय शान्ति पुरस्कार नेकपा -माओवादी) अध्यक्ष पुष्पकमल दाहाल र पर्ूव अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जिम्मी कार्टरलाई दिने निर्ण्र्ाागरेको छ । आजीवन गान्धी मार्गका यात्री रहेका रेग्मी प्रजातन्त्रनिम्ति अहिंसात्मक आन्दोलनका अगुवा मानिन्छन् । भारतमै पनि अंग्रेजविरुद्ध लडेर जेल परेका उनी त्यसै मुलुकमा स्थापित नेपाली राष्ट्रिय कांग्रेसका संस्थापकसमेत हुन् ।
रेग्मी मार्ग विपरीत दाहाल मुलुकमा १२ वर्षम्म सशस्त्र संर्घष्ाका मुख्य नेता हुन् । अन्य दलहरूस“ग १२ बु“दे सम्झौतामार्फ तत्कालीन राजाका अनुचित महत्त्वाकांक्षा चिर्दै मुलुकलाई लोकतान्त्रिक गणतन्त्रको दिशा प्रदान गर्न उनले महत्त्वपर्ूण्ा योगदान गरेका हुन् । त्यसै भएर पनि ँजनयुद्ध’ कै क्रममा प्रजातन्त्रप्रति समर्पित थुप्रै नेपालीको हत्या उनको समूहबाट किन भयो भन्ने प्रश्न था“ती राखेरै सहकार्य अघि बढिरहेकै छ । उनको पछिल्लो उदार कदमले लोकतन्त्रवादीका रूपमा पहिचान कायम गरेकै परिणाम हो, संविधानसभा निर्वाचनमा उनको समूह मुलुककै ठूलो दलका रूपमा देखापर्नु । तर, के उनी शान्तिका निम्ति कुनै पुरस्कारका हकदार हुन् - त्यसभन्दा बढी आजीवन गान्धीवादलाई आफ्नो मार्ग बनाएका रेग्मीजस्ता नेताको नाममा राखिएको शान्ति पुरस्कार उनलाई प्रदान गर्दा केही प्रश्न उठ्नु स्वाभाविक छ ।
माओवादीले बृहद् शान्ति सम्झौतामार्फ सशस्त्र लडाकुलाई शिविरमा राख्ने र हतियार बुझाउने निर्ण्र्ाागरे पनि हतियार र हिंसालाई पर्ूण्ातः अस्वीकार गरेका छैनन् । दर्ुइ वर्षेखि जारी शान्ति प्रक्रिया पर्ूण्ा सफल पार्न उनीहरूले अवरोध पूरै हटाएका छैनन् । हिंसालाई पर्ूण्ातः त्याज्य बनाउने, आफूले गरेका हिंसाप्रति क्षमायाचना गर्ने र समाजमा पुनः मेलमिलाप कायम गर्न क्षमाशीलता हासिल गरिसकेका छैनन् । राजनीतिक रूपमा सबभन्दा ठूलो दलका नाताले उनीहरू सरकारको नेतृत्व गर्न जा“दैछन् तर हतियारउन्मादले भरिएका अभिव्यक्तिबाट आफूलाई अलग राख्न सकिरहेका छैनन् ।
राणा शासनको अन्त्यनिम्ति उनकै साथीहरूले हतियार उठाएको बेलासमेत रेग्मीले आफूलाई त्यस कदमको विपक्षमा राखेका थिए । अर्कातर्फ राष्ट्रसंघले अनुगमन गरिरहेको माओवादी सेनाको क्यान्टोनमेन्टभित्रै समेत लगेर व्यवसायी मार्ने र त्यसका मतियारहरूलाई प्रहरीमा बुझाउन पनि उनको दल तयार भएको छैन । रेग्मी प्रतिष्ठानले दिगो शान्ति स्थापनामा महत्त्वपर्ूण्ा योगदान पुर्याएबापत दाहाललाई स्वर्ण्ााक्षर अंकित कलात्मक प्रशस्तिपत्र र एक लाख रुपैया“सहित सम्मानित गर्ने उल्लेख गरेको छ । ँजनयुद्ध’ क्रममा मारिएका प्रत्येकको कसुर के थियो भन्ने छानबिन र्सवमान्य सत्यनिरुपण आयोग अझै गठन भएको छैन ।
कुनै पनि दल निर्वाचनमा सफल वा असफल हुनु लोकतन्त्रमा सामान्य प्रक्रिया हो । तर सम्भावित सत्ताकै नजिक हुने लिप्सामा शान्ति पुरस्कार प्रदान भएको देखिन पुगे त्यसले स्वर्गीय रेग्मीप्रति समर्पित संस्थाको अवमूल्यन गर्नेछ । पुरस्कार दिने संस्था र त्यसको निर्ण्ाायक समितिको नेतृत्व गर्ने व्यक्ति हालै -संविधानसभा निर्वाचनअघि) माओवादीमा प्रवेश गरेको बुझ्नेहरूले पुरस्कारको रहस्य सहजै अनुमान गर्न सक्छन् । अहिंसावादी राजनीतिज्ञको नाममा स्थापित पुरस्कार माओवादी प्रमुखले पाउन नहुने भन्ने होइन । माओवादीलाई उदार लोकतान्त्रिक बहुलवादी समाजको एक प्रतिस्पर्धी दलका रूपमा रूपान्तर गर्ने र राजनीतिमा हिंसालाई पर्ूण्ातः त्याज्य तुलाउन सकेको दिन दाहाल निश्चयै कुनै पनि शान्ति पुरस्कारका स्वाभाविक हकदार हुन सक्नेछन् ।
