After SLC, the top students of the class will most often enroll in a bridge course or preparation course for a selcted college. after a couple of months budhnilkanta will distribute forms and it will have entrance exams, then stxaviers coll and then ku/ nist ..and if theyre rich they go to rato bangla so i bleive the brightess students go to schools in this order 1. budhanilkanth 2.stxc maitghar 3.KU 4.nist this doesnt include business students cause they are known as slc 2nd divisioners

darknight, Then why's these slc 2nd divisioners will be in the executive positions of most of the corporates controlling those so called 1st divisioners and studying the college you mentioned above. So, top students of class not enroll the schools mentioned above, rather join Shanker Dev, Min Bhawan or other commerce college, and now the private management colleges.

darknight, you know one thing, if studied hard, everyone can pass in first division, but think about the people who pass in third division, or think about the ones who will pass getting 35% (when i was in Nepal 35% was the pass mark), wow, they are the most talented people as they know how much to study for passing, unlike the students who secure first division, so I think most of the Public Schools in Kathmandu are producing brilliant students. My point is brilliant students go to the public schools in Nepal.

They all go to Shankar Dev, Amrit Science, Tri Chandra and Patan Engineering simply reason is all the student leaders are more active there and they are the future leaders of Nepal like we have today. That is the reason why at the age of 30 I have joined Shaker dev campus to get my BBA after completing my hotel mangement graduation in 2000. good huh!! in 3 yrs i will have double bachelors......the reason is simple dude politics.

I really feel this very strongly....It doesn't matter what you do in slc coz lots of brilliant students lose track during their high school...No matter how good those high schools and +2 might be.. For the part of high school ..I think most of them are overated....I have seen students doing Isc (ASCOL)..with less than 60 % then scoring good marks and securing merit list l while...students from so called good +2 and coleges with good score still sturggling...this is very much evident in engineering fields....

business students being the 2nd divisioners is an outdated concept, not applicable in real world today.... darknight needs to rethink his stereotype. frankly, i think the whole SLC thing is outdated and the education system in nepal needs overhaul....

YESAI, not all literate are educated and not all educated are intelligent and on top of that not all intelligent are good people. Too high or too low is always abnormal. BTW, commerce/business is studied only by second divisioner or lower is no more a fact. its been a myth from last few years. Every year I find many slc graduates with high 70 around percentages taking management.

Darknight, It's all a matter of choice and opportunity. I've seen kids from the so called "top" schools mentioned above attend lowly whack-azz community colleges here whereas, there are a few who're straight outta those rural SLC schools and end up getting into the ivies here. Dude, there's nothing to brag about the "top" Nepali schools as IMO, all schools in Nepal were never upto par with the schools in India (in terms of spoken english/grammar, extracurricular and recreational activities, etc. Proof in point: King Birendra and Gyane too were sent to Darjeeling). Hell, most schools in KTM still don't have enough room for a decent basket-ball court, let alone a soccer field!! And B-students as SLC 2nd divisioners?? LOLs. You high, dude? Where did that profound pseudo-intellectual wisdom of yours come outta?? I've seen idiots end up becoming doctors, lawyers and engineers under the Nepali educational system where anyone with any sort of connections can pass ANY exams. Even know of a few peeps here who cheated on the SATs (and they mention that it's rampant in Nepali SAT test centers)!! Never heard of such a phenomenon anywhere else. Seriously folks, there ain't nothing to brag about the Nepali educational system at all.

I know some bright kids opt for KU over STX because the latter is under TU system which is notorious for being lackadaisical when it comes to holding exams on time and publishing results.

Darknight, IT DEPENDS 1. THOSE WHO LIKE TO "BONG" GO TO KU, BUDHA 2. THOSE WHO LIKE "LOCAL" GO TO NIST/ST XAVIERS 3. OTHERS GO TO WHEREVER THEY CAN OR THEIR PARENTS FORCE THEM CONCLUSION... "THE BEST AND BRIGHTEST OF NEPAL ARE MADE OF BONG AND LOCAL"

Samsara bro, Birendra and Gyanendra were sent to Darjeeling. What about their sons? Also you should not compare outliers when you compare these schools. If you do, you might find some local community colleges more preferable to Harvard / Princeton. We're talking about how the majority of the students fare.

How do you quantify the term "TOP" in SLC? I have seen some people who have studied their high school English in Nepali medium, passed SLC in second division, and graduated from university with distinction. To me the opportunity places you at the top or at the bottom.

Commando, Gyane's chora went to Darj too and King Birendra's son was at Eton College...So, I fail to fathom where the standard of Nepali educational establishments fits in here. And your point was??? LOLs. I couldn't control my guts from spillin out here when you mentioned that community colleges may be more preferable than Harvard. Are you fo' real, dude? For instance, take the example of Queens, NY: Based on economic viability, proximity to work/home, student demographics (highly multicultural, easy classes), etc. ALL Nepalese students should then attend La Guardia Community College and GIVE UP any hope or opportunity to get into Columbia/NYU as per your stance, right? Dude, your rhetoric makes no sense to me...Any sane person would defn choose an Ivy over ANY community college. BTW, Undergrad at Harvard and Yale are free, so it makes even MORE sense to attend these institutions, ain't it brah??
