everything looks dark? you don't feel like getting out of the bed or go to work? you don't don't want to check your email or spend hours on facebook or other websites wondering what could have been looking at others pictures? it hurts bad specially in the winter..

i suggest working out , it helps. positive enforcement: keep thinking positive, although you have to force it and it feels silly but it works unconsciously. hangout with friends. if none helps go see a doc, you may be suffering from manic depression or bipolar.

Agree with Kalopaani. 100%.

Positive reinforcement. Talk to your clique about it. It's a normal state of being, believe it or not and socially it is much less of a taboo. And find a medium to vent your pent up frustrations on a regular basis. Go see a doc, there are tons of happy pills and uppers out there;)

If everything else fails, come to SB;).

i know, depression really hurts, I also suffered from depression and it takes a while to get over. Let me tell you, it is OK to feel like that, not OK to feel like that ALL THE TIME. As kalopani suggested, workout, it helps. These things help when you feel down

1) SHARING- with friends, you are sharing this in sajha, which is good(even better coz you are writing it down.(OH, be prepared for funny and stupid post, free humor in bonnus)

2) DON"T OVER GOOGLE- I did that, which is really annoying  TMI. too much info is bad. so, make a list(to do list) and stick to it.

3)LAUGH-watch comedy show or cartoons(i like it) or whatever makes you happy for 30 mins

4) FIND THE SOURCE- if you know what is bothering you it helps. sometimes it is hard.

5) CARE OTHERS- when ur feeling down, it affects you fren and family. so think that way if possible

if you continously feeling down , you should contact your doctor.it is important to  stay healthy, mentally and physically write more

!!!!!!Give Peace A Chance!!!!!!

OK alright, as far as I know you have to see PCP(primary care physician) first.  general dr. bhanam na. ani  you have to do you your regular check-up. Do you have insurance? IF not, dont worry.Let you r dr. know how are you feeling.  S/he will guide you that you should see psychiatrist or not. S/he will refer you. That is my limited knowledge, there must be some medial person in sajha who can guide you properly. Unitl then, try to eat healthy food, exersise, and maintain 8 hrs sleep(If possible). That is for everyone. I just recovered from long term depression, I know how it feel. So, don't worry, its just phase. din ho, kunai naramro huncha, kunai ramro" hamro nepal ma Dasha lagyo bhaya jastai ho. nepal ma hya k sani dasha, rahu dasha. yaha depression dasha. Tara sabai dasha ko samay sakincha hi, Don't worry.

Its good you have come to sajha and asking for help regarding your depression. This is the first step that you have come forward and this positive move shows you are in the path of recovery.

Second step will be abstene from addictive substance. I hope you are not taking alcohol , beer, coffee (too much is bad), and if you are taking you have leave right onwards. These substance make depression bad to worst.

Third step is share your problem with family and relatives first. Second should be very very very close friends. I said them because they are the one who will be suffering the most from your problem. I said close friend because sometime friends looks close and good but they wont be that way. There will be one who is looking for right opposrtunity to take advantage of your problem. Some will be just testing you and this will cause more problem. They will buzz around with rumours that you might have become maniac and trust me this will make worst and more worst. so just tell to few friends who will really help you.

Fourth will be performed atleast 10 minutes of running. I bet this helps. If you are lazy, performed with just 5 minutes of running. You will feel the difference. Then move from 5 to atleast 15 minutes of running. This will just connect the neurons and make you fresh. Perform daily.

Do some meditation. Take some deep breathe and breath out slowly, so that oxygen will be properly used> this method has been scientifically proven whick works best for everything from depression to stress buster.

The biggest factor will be food and medicine. Eat healthy food, rich in vitamins and minerals and folate rich food. Pop up some omega 3 fatty acids pills from walmart before going to bed and after taking meal. This will help with your depression and heart problem. If you hate taking omega 3 , add some flax seed powder in your cereals 2-3 spoons daily. It is easily available everywhere. Do some therapy session with psychiatric. remember UNTIL THE SOURCE OF DEPRESSION IS FOUND OUT  , YOU WONT FEEL BETTER. In medical term, it is called precipitation. until it precipitates out, depression wont go away. Psychiatric job is to find out source and kill that source. You can do it yourself, write down in the peace of paper when you get low.what thoughts causes you low, write down eveytime , then you can find the source if same thing is being written over n over again in the paper when you are low. But this requires lots of skills and patience. So psychiatrics will be the best option.

Engage yourself in some new creative things, watch funny movies, listen soothing songs, try to socialize with good few freiends. But  put yourslef away from bad freinds, they will make it worst with their never ending rumors.

LAst but not the least, you are not the one who is suffering from this. Remember Abram linclon, his face, do you remember, his cheeks has gone inside because of depression. He is the most famous people who has gone through deppression. The other one is wiston churchill, so you are not the only one.

THis is all gharelu method of treating depression. I guess this helps raches. Good luck for your treatment.

राछस Bro

Your name is राछस, with this name you can never think positive...

Here are my suggestion.

1. You said you work 16 hrs. I guess you work in a gas-station 7 days a week. Take a day off once a week. Make sure it's not your college day either. Make it in week days. You deserve one day for yourself. You will start noticing the change once you have a whole day for yourself. Do whatever you want to do. May be smoke weed from early morning,or drink alcohol, or go to museum, roam in downtown, or just go for a drive... You got the point.

2. Talk to people at your work. just talk on anything except Politics or race..

3.  If you have a camera, take their picture. Make sure to take their permission.

4.  Watch lots of stand-up comedy. It's fun. This will also helps you to start a conversation with a stranger. Most stand up talk about everyday life. They talk about all the small things that are missing from our life.

5. This part is missing............

6. You mentioned you stop drinking. WHY?? There is nothing wrong with drinking ( you know what i mean). Stopping drinking stopped you from socializing. You are taking  away yourself from your friends. Start drinking again. Don't drink to get drunk ( exception accepted)

7. Listen music. Open an account in Pandora ( it's free). Create 20-30 station with diverse station. From Rock, hip hop, pop, indian, latino, or even some orchestra/opera. Play a quick mix station. Try it it's fun.

9. Go for work out. It helps a lot to relax a body.

10. Stop masturbating a lot. I guess you do couple of times day. Limit it to 2-3 time a week. But there is always condition apply.

11. I guess while reading this, you didn't realize that No. 8 was missing...

12. Just take it easy. Everything will be fine. I guess you never cheated on anyone or never thought anything bad about anyone. If this is the case, you don't have to worry about anything. Eventually everything thing will be good. There are no other options.

13. DONT EVER SEE A PSYCHIATRIST. You know there are lots of Pharmaceutical company in US. If you start taking meditation, you will have to take it all life.

14. Stop saying that you are feeling depressed. STOP being PUSSY....

since you said you work for 16 hrs/7days ,  that might be the root cause..

you might want to take a week break and hangout with your good friends, working 16hrs a day and that too 7 days a week might have affected your thinking...

so take a break, work out, talk to your friends, ..

good luck

Engage in different activities around you. Craigslist might be good website to look at.

Try doing some volunteer work. Helping others will give you a sense of accomplishment.

Watch inspirational movie or documentary. CNN hero 2010 gave me goosebumps.

Go to club or sports bar. Meet people and talk to them.

Find something that interests you and be crazy at it.

Hi Rachas Bhai(hope you are younger than me)
As said by everyone in this thread, the root cause of your depression is your work schedule.
Please remember that we all are human  being, not a machine and our body needs periodic rest.
I know, it is easier for us to ask you  to take a day off from your work without knowing your financial situation. Having said that, the only solution I could provide is  to invite you to visit me and my family in southern California for the winter break. After visiting us, you might find a new friend on my little son, who will keep you busy with his errands.
Please do not let your negative thoughts dominate you.
Good Luck!
