How many of you eat beef in America. Its been almost a year since I came to America, I haven't intentionally eaten it and I don't feel like it. Although, I have been tricked a couple of times but other than I don't. Do you? 

 Mostly "NEWARS" and "JYAPUS" eat Beef in America.

Some Bahun/Chettri also eat Beef just to show they are American.

its not nice to be racist and say those words man. i have seen almost all different caste from nepal eating beef.i guess it depends on personal choice rather than caste. personally i do not eat beef and i have been here for 7 years.

most of nepalese complain that there wasnt any substitute available but they are just sugar coating the fact. theres always vegetarian and chicken available with beef choice. they try to use this as escapegoat.

khau na khau afni icchya but what really disgusts me is that after eating beef regularly, they proudly say to others that they are Hindus and they dont have any hesitation to worship cow on tihar. if you are eating beef then the very fundamental of Hinduism is breached and thus those people are not hindu anymore....thats what I think. kina laxmi pooja garna paryo??? bekar ko swang...nepal ma jindagi beef bhanne kura taha thiyena ani america aayera hero bhayeka chhan........ajai ghar ma taha chhaina po bhanchhan laaj pacheka haru.............

Not all Nepalis are Hindus. My musalman friend, Alim Mia from Nepal eats beef which is not against Islam. Another friend, William Gurung  who is a Christian consumes beef - not against his religion. Yet another friend Karma eats beef which does not conflict with his Buddhist roots. One more - my good friend Bhaktraj eats pork which does not clash against his Hinduism faith. But none of us order beef or pork when we all dine together simply out of respect for each other's religion.

To get back to the topic, only Hindus are not supposed to eat beef, the rest can.

Need I add more? Brahmins are not supposed to consume alcohol. These days- not all but quiet a lot of them I know, can beat the "mawtwalis" in binge drinking. What up wit' dat?

Bottomline is - learn to live in harmony with people of other backgrounds for unanticipated human crises can be solved only when humanity can prevail.

From purely rationalist point of view, would you not agree that eating beef makes more sense than eating meat of smaller animals, say chicken?  

One cow can feed 200 people, whereas you need more than 50 chickens to feed same number of people.  

1 cow vs 50 chicken.  

1 kill vs 50 kills.

If i eat Hatti ko masu am i breaching rule of being a hindu since ganesh is half hatti? where in the hindu books is there anything about not eating hatti/gai ko masu? why then can i eat Pork and Badel bwhen Baraha awatar is supposedly one of the 9 reincarnations of Vishnu? if it's a personal choice i can understand, if anyone is going to give me a religious reason then I just have to say your reasoning does not make any sense.

Lasun, pyaj,golveda, somras sabai khanchhu. We do not worship there things the way we revere cow. I don’t have a problem with YOUR religion; which is hybrid Hinduism. Just don’t give out the wrong impression of Hindus okay with eating beef to the world! No one can and no one will stop you from doing anything, but it makes no sense to do that. There isn’t anything about eating hatti ko masu but there are words on not eating cow in holy books of Hinduism. Kahile puran suneko chha?? Kahile ved suneko chha??? Pahila sunnu ani bhannu. Ani gai laxmi ko bahan bhanera na khau bhaneko haina. Since our main source of milk is from cow, it is considered a mother figure as children grow up on milk. You would not eat your mother after she breast fed you, would you?? It is a metaphor…try to understand. Another thing is, its our national animal until now. America ma bald eagle khayeko dekhya chhau bro??  testai beef mitho lagne bhaye tagat chha bhane Nepal gayera khau……gai kina ani katera khau…..chha tagat afnai family ko agadi teso garne??? how do you justify that it is perfectly okay to kill chicken, buffalo but not okay to kill cow? just because we worship them? does hindu culture justify killing these innocent animals for sacrifice just to please the gods? how do you justify killing those little goat calfs to 'please' the dieties. How can god be pleased by taking lives of others? Can these poor animals even have any choice or express their emotions?
