Hey Nepali_kaanchha, when you say Bhaskar Rajkarnikar is that a Ram Bhandar guy at Thapathali? But Bhaskar is big guy and has his won business in Thapathali and active in Lions Club too but it can't be the same guy. His sister, Sunita Rajkarnikar, is my classmate. I wonder where is she nowadays! Sarada Lepcha is one batch senior than me and she is pretty chick too. Is that Phiju Nepali is same as our Fiju dai or what?

I miss those moment..Miss my frens..some of my teachers cuz not all of them were nice..ehehe...got punishment so many time for not doing my homework..not reading for the test and got caught one ..was helping mah poor fren in his exams:(((((((.....ehhe..i had an AWESOME time in MAV!!!!!

Khoi, kata gae sabai jana? Guff suff continue garau na. Let me share some of my memories hai.

The ten minute morning breaks: Rush to the main entrance, buying icecream, dhwang jasto papad (damn, forgot what it is called) etc. All transactions took place from the locked gate.

Tiffin breaks: The store right across from the main entrance, was run by a middle aged gentleman, tin ko chhana thiyo. As of 1987, could get a rather non descript cake for Rs 1 or a chocolate cake for Rs 2. Titaura khana keti haru ko bhid hunthyo. My daily allowance for khaja: Rs 2. Kehi din ko paisa bachaera coke/sprite khainthyo, that used to be a luxury those days. Around 1988, a couple of more new eateries opened towards the south end of the school compound. I think the one on the left (going towards Godawari) was called Syangjali Bhojanalaya, Arun Tol. Tyaha chiura tarkari Rs 2 ma painthyo jasto lagcha. Right across the street, momo for Rs 4 per plate painthyo.

Khas gari class 7 ma huda, agriculture research ko compound ma gaera "kimbu" (mulberry?) chorera khainthyo. I am not sure how much loss we caused for the sericulture project. Kahile chahi Godawari janay baato ko oralo samma gaera farkinthyau, kahile chahi school compound ek round marinthyo. Kuwa pani thiyo euta. Herda herdai kati ghar haru thapiyo tyaha.

Laxmi Guragain taught us hraswa dirgha rules in class 8. I, along with a couple of nerdish students used to inspect spellings on the trucks (mostly loaded with logs) parked by the Ring Road.

Ani Rudra Rijal (popularly known as Bam Sir) used to teach Sanskrit. We had to translate aloud standing in front of the class. Dherai mistake garyo bhane masino latthile kutai khainthyo bessari.

Lau aru pani share garula bistarai. Sabaile afno afno memory pani share garu na. Yo thread lai jaldo baldo rakhu.

In support of Chipledhunga's persistant insistance... here's my version of 'down the memory lane'.

As soon as you exited the big gates of MAV Thapathali, and mind you - the school was in an old palace of some sorts, you came under a big canopy where buses or just 'a' bus would await the day scholors. And on the right, next door, was a store where you could buy all good stuff. But being a boarder, I could hardly get into that store. Oh, how I used to wish if there was a hole in the wall, as right at the end of the 'football' field - or just a dusty field - was the wall to that store.

And when you were on the third floor of the building, looking at one direction (south, may be), you could see the building that housed the famous 'Ram Bhandar' where the most beautiful looking and the best tasting meethais were sold.

Oh, that little store and Ram Bhandar - so close, yet so FAR - for being a boarder who couldn't venture out... prisoners of some sort.
