This is what I was looking for so long

Very very special song, at least for me . It has been passed down from one gen to other gen in our family. My Papa narrated me the story of this movie Bhabhi which has again a woman as a main character. Papa used to sing this song , then we started singing the same, specially on the nights before leaving home.
This song always carried the vibes of departure for us whenever we listened to it.
If one listens to it carefully, one can capture the vibe I guess .

I believe it is yesudas, one of the finest singers of all times. Sad to see he does not sing anymore in hindi movies, excellent singers who could not adapt to the derogatory form of music often bite dust.

That song "bekarar karke hame yun na jaaii ye" is among my fave Hemant Kumar numbers, as is the tantalizing "Ye nayan dare dare ye jam bhare bhare".

John, I remember last time how we shared our wish to see Nepali pop world raise it's bar to the height of Nepali and Hindi classics. Barring some exceptional exceptions, I still do not find the songs I love to listen.

Sometimes I wonder if it is the familiar taste or the real quality I am missing to see.

I often think about myself in my childhood not understanding my father. At a time when I used to die to watch Hindi movies, he used to leave the theater at "intermission" almost always. Is not the same happening with me ? I used to wonder until I read your piece.

Anyway, back to the classics, I love Yesudas. I am generally very choosy, to be honest. But I do not remember any song by Yesudas that I did not love.

Here is a song by Yesudas. It invokes one of my early fantasy or a notion of romance if you like, to meet a most beautiful girl in the village I would go for a short assignment or something. फिलिममा जस्तो हुन्छ त्यस्तै कल्पना नि !

That one by Rafi "Babul ki duayen leti ja/Ja tujhko sukhi sansar miley" captures every Hindu father's send-off blessings for his daughter. My eyes tear up each time I hear it, along with the equally poignant number by Mukesh "Chal ri sajni ab kya soche/Kajra na behe jaye rote rote" ...........
