1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance. 2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink. 3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front. 4. Only in America......do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet Coke. 5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors to the vault open and then chain the pens to the counters. 6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage. 7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place. 8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight. 9. Only in America......do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'. 10. Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

Bedrock wrote "Only in America, you don't have to be a citizen to join the Military but must be a citizen to join the Police." Thats right Bedrock. Now juxtapose that with: Only in Nepal, you can't join the Military even if you are a Nepali citizen but of "Madishe" or of Tharu community. Of course you can be the Deputy Prime minister or Defense Minister though....

when you first meet someone in america: "what's your name?" "how do you do?" "it's nice to meet you" "what work do you do" (or "what do you study" for those students out there) "where do you live?" or "where are you from?" when you first meet someone in nepal: "kahaa bata aaunubhayo? "kahaa jaane ho?" "tapaaile bihe garnubhaeko chha ki chhaina? "tapaaiko talab kati aaunchha ni?" "o-hoooo, kati moto hunuhunchha ta!"

A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is an American. She asks her students to raise their hands if they were American too. Not really knowing why but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands explode into the air like flashy fireworks. There is, however, one exception. A girl named Gita has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I am not an American." replied Gita. "Then", asks the teacher, "What are you?" I'm a proud nepali," boasts the little girl. The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red. She ask Gita why she is an Nepali."Well", my mom and dad are Nepalis, "so I'm an Nepali too." The teacher is now angry. "That's no reason", she says loudly "if your mom was an idiot, and your dad was an idiot, what would you be >>then?" A pause, and a smile. "Then" says Gita, "I'd be an American." (PS: Just take it as a joke.....not serious!!!!!!............enjoy)

only in Nepal: Tourism is a significant source of income for the country, yet if a Nepali is interested in treking and climbing, you'll get laughed at. People will say" Kasto manche rahicha, paisa kharcha gari gari dukha garna jancha; ghumna hongkong bangkok po jane ta" I get that from my family when I talk about treking.

PG, that is very true. However, some Gaidas or Hattis at the door will do the trick to get into the Casino. Once inside, the nepali will say "Ma Indian ho kya, katti kich kich gareko" if checked upon.

Only in Nepal, daughters get all the Dakshina and none for son. I used to get so jealous about it that I used to lure my sis into card game, then try to cheat to win her money (didn't get too far).

Only in Nepal can you use your index finger (Chor aaula) in lieu of the tooth brush. do the institutes make you take off your shoes before letting you in the computer room (at least it was until 96')

it's always good to start a new day with a laugh. thanks kq4mvp. they use sticks instead of toothbrushes at times too....and yeah, i know at least some computer institutes require you to remove your shoes before entering. and hurray, yours inspired this one- only in nepal, do people dedicate a day to worshipping their vehicles only in nepal is it culturally required for some girls to marry a fruit (i find this tradition fascinating and it is not, in any way, meant to offend newars or anyone else) only in america do parents have to pay someone else to watch their kids so they can go out for the evening
