you are TOTALLY RIGHT!!! i really agree with you. when i worked with bijay kumar he told me that when he was 19 years old, he had nothing to do and then chairman of nepal TV and his unlce NEER SHAH hired him as a producer to some program, though he had never even had TV at his home, and he used to bring his couches at his office and sleep all day. this is how "famous" people are made in nepal. they dont have to to work hard at alll...

and yess there is no competion in nepal, we have 5 private chanels and 1 national television and private chanels started to bloom 2 years ago, so lot of peeple are just making careers in television. he does not have anyone who can compete with him, so he thinks himself as MAHAAN..

yes he is married to ansumala shahi, she knows about his habits, and his relations, but she does not want to do anything. she is a very nice and kind person she lets him so what he wants. even if he goes to some parties, he is accompanies by other girls thann his wife.

What an observation!!

Despite several people's unliking, I remain a fan of VK. He has his own style, and has established a reputation other Nepali media anchors die for.

I would refrain from correlating what he is professionally vs. personally. On a personal note, he was my immediate senior at IOE pulchowk, and his wife was my immediate junior at Pokhara School. But, after decades gap of contact, I wonder if VK will agree to know me. But, I salute his professional enterprise.

I dont know anything about Bijaya kumars personal life. ANd this is the first time I am hearing these negative things about his personal life. But as far as his interviews are concerned, I like them. Now again, thats subjective, u may not like it. And I know there are many persons like me who like his interviews. and there are also many persons who do not like his style. This is one thing. Mamata, you may be right about Bijay Kumar, u may be wrong, I dont know. ANd I have nothing to say about that. But there are some egoist people who dont want to see others succeed EARLY in their lives. SOme people think that if they are educated in Harvard, they have the right to say anything. Thet cannot see others gain popularity which they themselves cannot get. Dont think that all people in Nepal are fools. If Bijay Kumar is not good (professionally) , then a private Media House like Kantipur wouldnt pay him a huge sum to make him work for them. Cmon wake up. If he is famous not by his ability or hard work but just because of people working around him, why would a private media house hire him? The fact is there are many people in nepal who like his interviews. There are many people who love watching his shows.

I have seen some early interview done by VK which honestly were quite good at the time relatively speaking. But I hear he royally screwed up the interview with Amitabh Bachchan. I did not have the opportunity to watch that but would like to have some light shed on this by those who did...

I don't know much about this Vijaya Kumar dude, but I once watched Indra Lohani's program and was quite impressed.

As rein said, there are many people who like him but personally, I dont like his style at all. He is not diplomatic and often rude and exactly that was the reason for being pissed off while conducting an interview with Amitabh Bachchan.

Few months back, I had watched Amitabh Bachan's interview with Charlie Rose in PBS. It was an engaging and cordial affair, done with professional alacrity.

So, you guys are saying Vijaya Kumar's interview with AB was not of that same calibre?
