I totally agree with brainjuice that “Delhi airport authorities are the stupidest and most uncivilized people on this planet†but I think most of the Delhities if not all are the same. They are ill mannered people. Even ours is not 100% free of corruption and tourist friendly …I don’t have to describe what goes inside our airport. Sum! What I would suggest is to: be in the transit and everything will go fine. And about your question…No, you don’t have to pick up your luggage in transit. Usually, they are totally different places. If you are a transit bound passenger you don’t have to pick up the luggage. Your airline will pick it up for you (manual or automatic). Your luggage should be tagged from US (State) -KTM. So don’t worry about it. As Birkhe said “you do need to verify and confirm that it is yoursâ€. Please check this with your travel agent, and don’t be hesitant to ask while boarding the flight here in the US. Have a good one :]

I am really worried about this new delhi transit myself. My uncle is travelling from US to Nepal via delhi. They didn't have much problem as they said when they travelled from delhi-chicago.But I don't know this time and reading all this, I am really worried. Is there anyone who has travelled via delhi to nepal from US? I have heard they steal stuffs too and luggages can be stole too. What should my uncle do just in case luggages are missed?Do they fill the claim? Please let me know

I think you can get overlap which leads to delay in Delhi-Ktm route to you. So keep more transition in Delhi.

I would stronlgy suggest calling AA. If they have a partnership...they won't have any problems doing that...air india or lufthansa have a partnership/merger with sahara and jet. I am not sure about Indian Airlines or RNAC. Since yours is Sahara i take...so you should be fine..Or else you are left with what Birkhe said...good luck

Delhi Transit is not the best, but it works out. You gotta tell that guy that you want to be in Transit before going to Custom. Once in Custom, they will contact you with your luggage. But you have to make sure you have at least 4-5 hours of time before next flight. I would not recommend Delhi Transit for 2-3 hours flight. And dont forget to take IC500-600. YOu need it for Subway or Indian Tea. It is not the cleanest and friendliest. But that is all we got. So use them well. And speak English all the time. YOu will enjoy meeting many nepali from different walks of life and from different corner of the world. It is truely an adventure if you can enjoy. Like Indian Democracy, it is chaotic, but functional. If you get a time, go to Ashoka Lounge and enjoy Naan and Alu Gobi.

Common guys, chill out, its not as bad as you think. You think its like a place where theres like one blast every week where 5 ppl are killed in a population of 200 million and the news highlights just that and everybody thinks its a perpetual war zone. Common, its not bad at all. Just dont expect there to be great services like in foreign airports, thats it.

My parents came to visit me last year via New Delhi airport. They had to stay in a hotel overnight because of one night layover, hence, had to check out the luggage and check them back in the next day. The gentleman who puts the tape around the suitcases , showing that it has been inspected, after passing through security offered to put extra tape to make it even more secure for couple hundred rupees chai-samosa expense. My parents politely declined. He went away. No problem.

I pity each one of u thankless bhikaris(beggars) who have nothing better in life than to blame it on india. Bloody get an airport in nepal and fly outta there. thankless bunch of hypocrites...I think yr fav dhotis should ban nepalese flying through India..or better imagine the day when and if all the nepalese living and working in India are thrown outta the country? Bloody nincompoops u will choke on their farts...u thankless buncg of morons should be taught a lesson....bal bahadur get ready there is no question of what if India attacks nepal...get ready to be attacked now and be owned...I will make u my slave! You are just better off as servants really....born servant mentality hence this much hatred towards the same dhotis who feed NEPAL!!! roaches! but then I too blame it on india for feeding the nepalese to let them bite like snakes...leave them thankless BA#$#$# alone to die in starvation. LONG LIVE THE GREAT BEGGAR COUNTRY OF NEPAL...and i blame india for making them survive so far!
